  • Organised?Yes
  • Events on time?Yes

  • Lots of volunteers to help?No
  • Plenty of drink stations?No

  • Post race activities?
  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: This could be a great race with some more sponsors and a little bit better directional aids on the course. Do a Rectangle course for the swim start down the beach and finish at another point. Plenty of room. I nearly got nailed on the ride by a car, because on the main ride back in the foothills, cars are getting mad a race is going on, but they need to close the road or patrol better.

  • Comments: I was scared to death of doing anything more than a sprint when I signed up for this race. I was able to overcome my fears and I'm looking forward to doing more Olys next season. I think this was probably the most enjoyable race I did all season. In addition to the physical training for this race, I really concentrated on my mental preparation. This was the most relaxed (least nervous) I've ever been in any race. I was able to focus on every aspect of the actual race. Never once felt any anxiety/stress during the race. I felt "in control" of my race. I think this contributed to the enjoyment factor. Carpinteria is a small town and you can't get lost. Motel 6 less than a mile from the race site. Lots of parking around the race site. Lots of good restaurants. Less than 2 hours from home. Great location.
