Subject: RE: The Great Pumpkin Chase 5k RunThanks everyone. I had a blast today. The ChiRunning concepts are really working well for me. The funny thing is that I've been talking to some long distance runners about it and they already run that way (for the most part ). I guess some people figure it out on their own and others (ME ) need to be pointed in the right direction and kicked...
I finally saw the pumpkin at the finish line, be I think he cheated - I didn't see him at the turnaround. My biggest kavetch with the race were the people doing 15 to 20 minute 5k's. They were fairly nasty (and vocal ) about us slower people being in their way coming back from the turn around... So far, triathlons and wushu competitions are the only events that I've seen where people cheer on their "competitors."
My next race is in the middle of December. I've signed up for a 4 event race series over the winter. I am determined to become one with the road (as long as it doesn't involve me under a big truck ), so I figured "what the heck." Once race every month from December to March. No T-shirts, but the whole series is $20 - can't beat that. You can pick to do a 5k or 10k when you show up. For now, I'm planning December, January and February to be 5k runs, and if I can get my distance up and pace down to 12 min/mile, I'll do the 10k in March. Thanks again everyone. I'm just getting warmed up
