Subject: My Eardrums!!!!
I was changing out my back tire tube got the tube on, the tire and then started airing it up.  Suddenly "BOOM!!!!!!!!"  It scared the cr*p out of me.  The tube had a 6 inch slice....in it.  Did I do something wrong?

You had the tube pinched under the tire.   Always check both sides after seating the tire and tube before inflating or you'll hear the boom again.

Like all things in this crazy sport: Practice, Practice, Practice.

I bought my bike used, and its pretty old. The rear wheel kept eating tubes. I could not ride for more than 20 minutes without getting a flat. In the first two weeks, I think I repaired or replaced the tubes 10 times, and replaced the rim tape twice before finally getting it rolling for good. Needless to say, I could probably replace the rear tube in less than 2 minutes. Blindfolded.
