What is the weather normally like?  Heat, humidity, sunny/cloudy?

80s to 90s, sunny with virtually no shade cover on the run or bike courses(but it matters more on the run), windy on the bike- it actually changed directions last year so the last 10 miles were into a headwind which you thought you were done with earlier. Humidity- reasonably high, typical summer FL

Have I scared anyone away yet? Not really the purpose, just getting the truth out. The challenge in this course is not in the elevation but in the elements. The run is pancake flat, the bike has a section that most decidedly is not but really hydration, nutrition, and electrolytes can make or break your day here.

Jorge has much experience between racing FL 70.3, Cancun 70.3 and Clearwater so maybe he will share some strategies on dealing with the heat, etc. I travel to FL to race a couple times a year but know that my own nutrition strategy is a work in progress.

I did it last year, will have to skip it this year as it doesn't really fit my schedule for my "A" race. The "hilly" part of the bike course is actually pretty fun, riding past orange groves and nurseries, a golf course, etc. A good portion of the run course is off-road.

I'm in too.  I"m one of the calmer, quieter, boring ones.

I get to meet the famous Big Sexy!  Hope to see everyone.  I'm staying in a cabin.  We splurged this time, so the pressure to do well mounts....

I will be there for my first 70.3 race. Very excited. I am using the 1/2 IM plan on BT and finding it very helpful. Anyone else use it in the past and find it successful? Any training tips in addition to the BT program would be helpful. Thanks.

See you all there!

Hands down the biggest complaint of this race is the run course.  2.5+ miles on uneven grassy truck trails that hug a nasty canal.  With the gazillion square miles available at the Disney complex, you'd think they could rope off a 3-5 mile piece of road somewhere.

I live here in Orlando and am a Disney Cast Member. There is a "rumor" that the run course may be changed for the 2008 race. I was told it would be a two loop course on pavement. Cross your fingers

We are pretty seriously thinking about ditching Mountaineer (WV) to do this half. Training for IMKY, this one will give me some practice in the heat & give me a chance to redeem myself after a misearble disney marathon! Does anyone know if it sold out last year? We can't make our reservations (housing) until Feb. 13th b/c we are using timeshare points but would hate to miss out on getting in by just a few days!

The race director posted on Slowtwitch about a week ago and said they had about 200 spots left. He said if anyone wanted to sign up they should do it within the next 10-15 days (from then) so that would mean sometime this week.

The race website shows over 2400 people are signed up (according to my very unofficial calculations.) I think the limit was supposed to be 2400, so it looks like the race is technically full now, but it says registration is still open. I don't think you will be able to wait until Feb 13 to sign up.
