And Day 8 is in the books! I have to say that, compared to Day 7, it really wasn't that hard. Now, it was hard; it just wasn't the soul-crushing experience that yesterday was. Only one day left! I still haven't missed any of my numbers, feeling good about that!

I know. What's up with that? I just CRUSHED Blender. Hit every number, I was actually on the + side at the end of the ride. Not to say it wasn't beastly, but I was able to push through it, even all the sprints and those three 4 minute hits at the end. Psyched to almost be done with it all though.

Stage 7 was tough!!!! I was feeling pretty good all week, but today, I just dragged getting through those 2 rides. I've been swimming, running and lifting all week too, today it just all caught up!

Tomorrow's going to hurt... the good news, stage 9 is ONLY 1 hour....

Yup. same here, I'm not surprised I'm better at this point, but I'm surprised I'm that much better. I think it's now a certainty that I'm going to ride at least 5 days a week, for at least a half hour. The benefits are just like in swimming and running. It is sustainable, time to get better!

Stage 8 complete.

I don't really want to talk about it. Compared to how good I felt yesterday today was absolutely the opposite.

I think on any other time I would love this video, however today I feel nothing but loathing for it.

Thank goodness tomorrow is the last day. One hour, 64 sprints, to freedom. I'm going to drink all the beer and eat all the food on Sunday.

Edit: Also want to add my butt has never been this sore. Not sure if it's my set up, or just the fact that I've never spent this much time on the trainer in such a short period of time.

I'm with you guys...just finished Blender and my first thought was "Ha! I CRUSHED IT". Not a day at the beach, but rode at 100%, beat every number, TSS of 144.5 and probably my best day of riding the whole tour.

Anyone think they're setting us up to be completely smoked by this tomorrow?

same here! wondering what is wrong with my saddle, etc. I think its just butt toughness needed. Someone over on ST referred to it like sitting on a cheese grater all week. Thought that was pretty accurate!

DONE.

Something bugged out on the website, i see Violator in my career page, but i didn't get the credit for it on the ToS page. Sent em an email, I'm sure it will get sorted out.

Rest time.

Help me with this - stage 8 in the bag. TSS 150/148, IF .93/.91. Feeling like hell, sore, beginnings of a cold and BOOM - best ride of the Tour. Gotta think the 10 am start (vs 4:30 am) today helped with the extra mental and physical rest. Maybe all this time in the saddle helps

Just put the kid down for a nap and I'm about to go knock out Violator. I don't have the video so this one is just going to be music and my own mind... although I may throw a similar length video in to give me something to watch. My wife went food shopping this morning and stopped by a cake place and got me this awesome cupcake which is now waiting for me when I finish.

Stage #8 is in the books. Did great yesterday, felt good through most if it, and missed maybe 30 seconds of one of the intervals. Today I thought I was doing really well...until the time trials at the end. I think the Revolver-esque intervals took more out of me than I thought. I had nothing left.

Down to the final day... Violator. I find it ironic they start the tour with Rubber Glove (an examination of sorts) and finish with Violator. Anyway...

Done. Violator was strange, never done it before and I didn't have the video. The first 40 minutes wasn't that bad, but the last 25 really sucked. The last two sets were killer, especially the last set. I didn't have enough time to slow down and ramp up so I just kept a constant effort through a lot of those 2x FTP ones. I should have set me power readings to have zero smoothing on it, I had to start every interval about 3-4 seconds early just so it would register for the whole 10/12/15 seconds or whatever.

All in all the tour was awesome but I'll reflect more once everyone is completed. Good luck finishing up everyone, leave it all out there because remember you don't have to do a ride on Monday if you don't want to.

I had a nice post written about finishing the tour but BT.com ate it. So I'm just going to say I'm done. Finished stage 9. Now I need a beer.

Stage 8 is done. Motivation for the ride has been Rocky III and IV on TV. Nothing beats those training montages.

again, parallel experience. I had 3 second smoothing on, but it sucks - it takes 3 seconds to register an increase, but it instantly registers a decrease....so cruel.

Can't wait for my new powertap wheel being built right now. No more questions, just accurate, rock solid numbers.

One the fence about buying Violator. Any thoughts? Purchased (or had purchased) most of the videos this time around. Can't see doing Violator regularly, but who knows.

I know. What's up with that? I just CRUSHED Blender. Hit every number, I was actually on the + side at the end of the ride. Not to say it wasn't beastly, but I was able to push through it, even all the sprints and those three 4 minute hits at the end. Psyched to almost be done with it all though.

Same deal with me too. Stage 7 left me feeling completely horrid. My legs felt totally trashed this morning. I was not looking forward to blender. But it turned out to be just what the doctor ordered. The high cadence and relatively low power actually felt really good. I nailed on my numbers too, finally! The last few days kicked my butt at the end and i just couldn't keep up. I finished my last interval at +50!

Totally agree! 3/4 of the ride wasn't bad at all, but the last set was tough. It was hard to go all out, but it was also just about impossible to get up to the wattage I was supposed to hit before dropping back down.

I'm pretty pumped I was able to finish the whole tour; I definitely wasn't confident that I was going to make it.

Finished! I could not keep up with the intervals at the end - 10s intervals especially. Plus I came unclipped twice, which added some drama. Thanks to all who were on here supporting each other, it really helped to get at least some perspective on how others were doing. If you're finished, congratulations! If you're about to do Violator, good luck! And if you're reading this, thinking about doing it someday - do! This was the hardest event I've ever attempted on a bike, and I learned a lot about myself and my limits doing it. And I'm 44 with a few endurance events under my belt. Best to all!

Also, I meant to say - it's bee a full year since I've been in the pool, dealing with a shoulder injury. Plan to get back in today. And I don't plan to get on my bike tomorrow.

TOS is in the books. Rode all stages at 100 %. Violator was a heck of a way to finish but my TSS and IF were terrible. Felt great until the last series of sprints and had trouble hitting the numbers but my TSS and IF were shockingly low (74 and 0.80). Oh well, gave it my all. Time for a run.

Congrats to others that completed it as well.

Violator and tour complete. Mission accomplished. Last set of sprints was literally like watching a train wreck - saw it coming a mile and not a thing I could do about it. Time fo eat, drink a couple of beers and watch football. Well done by all.

I did note with curiosity that two riders dropped after stage 7. What a rough way to go.

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
