I'm an Asics girl, always have been .. however lately I've been cheating on Asics with Nike. And karma is making me pay for it.

A few weeks ago I picked myself up a new pair of Nike Triax 11's .. wore them around the store, took them outside for a run around the block, and they felt really good. And since I got a really good deal (almost half off) I bought them in addition to a new pair of Asics - thinking I'd alternate the two pairs as I ramp up my distance running.

The problem is - whenever I run in my Nikes, my feet go numb 10-20 minutes into my run. It's almost like hot spots on the bottom of my feet, except it's also in my toes. And it alternates from foot to foot, and where on my foot, with every run. They're not too tight - I already tried changing up the lacing.

Thoughts?? ..

I have them too but in the men's size. the womans were too narrow. No problems here. Are you sure they aren't just too tight?

stick with what feels good on your feet.  So far, I can only wear Adidas running shoes.  Why mess with a good thing if the Asics are working?

Have you experimented with different thicknesses of socks? I'd sometimes get numbness on really long runs, but found that a medium thickness sock didn't let my foot slip around that little bit and I didn't have to tie my shoelaces too tight.

Why the switch in the first place?

I wanted two pairs - and I got a good deal on the Nikes. I've learned my lesson.

"If it aint broke...."

This is why I go in, ask for my 10.5 Kayanos, pay and leave. I dont even look around the store anymore. The guy says to me "After spending so much time with a lot of people who come in here, I really enjoy having a customer like you!" This was 3 days ago when I bought my new pair

Agree with this. Best thing I've ever done is go to a proper running store, met with a fit expert who saw me walk/run and then made shoe recommendations. I ended up with the Mizuno Wave Renegade 3 and I love them. I don't bother looking for shoes on sale or whatever, I like my shoe and it's kept me injury free for more than 18 months now. I go in, get my model and walk out.

oddly enough i had something similar.....  but it was going from asics 2110 to 2130, i found that when i switched my removable inner sole to my new pair i did not get numbness.  the new shoes had some weird spiral pattern on the bottom and my old soles were just flat.  fixed the problem for me, but as has been said stick with the asics if its working for you.......
