Swim
Comments: Had a great swim...actually jumped into the mix a bit at the start. Felt good, at no time did I panick. If I had a HRM it probably wouldn't have gone over 80bpm :) Could have hauled ass alot more on the swim but I was so comfortable it was almost hypnotic how calm I was even with the 300-500 ppl around me! What would you do differently?: swim faster! Get a new wetsuit mine looks like I was attacked by an otter! Transition 1
Comments: Crazy T1 up a 300m hill, I actually ran most of it. Wetsuit strippers are awesome was out of my suit in seconds! With the bike I origanally had the shoes clipped in the bike but decided against it at the last minute and put them on in transition. What would you do differently?: go a bit faster? Wear a trisuit to make it that much quicker. Bike
Comments: Awesome bike, I felt like I was going to die at the start. The hills were beating me up. I grew more accustomed to them near the middle of the race and faired better with the end part of the lolipop than I thought I would have. I actually stopped in the middle of one hill after the first aid station, I really could not get up the hill. Stopped for 30seconds and continued made quite a difference, the rest of the hill was a breeze. I stopped again at the second aid station and filled up my bottles...was there for like 2 minutes. What would you do differently?: Bike alot more hills!Still building just general endurance for the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Took my time made sure everything good, shook out the legs...had a pee. What would you do differently?: go faster Run
Comments: Felt ok at the start, I knew going in my run was probably going to be shotty cause I focused soo much on the other 2 disciplines. I also made a terrible choice by wearing a pair of shoes that I have not worn in over a year (other than to cut the grass)I got huge blisters by about the halfway point and it really made it incredibly hard to run almost impossible. So I took it step by step, and just did the best I could. Had a great time talking to Trevor who stayed with me the whole 2nd half of the run! What would you do differently?: Be more prepared for the run. Have a better plan for the shoes I was going to wear. Post race
Warm down: Sat on the hill, sipping gatoraide, drinking recovery drink and hanging out with the "Flatlanders". It was so great to have everyone there at the finish. We all waited for eachother to finish it was a great end to a great race! My Family was so great to be there cheering me on taking care of me (and putting up with me)...my son the Human sign with the paint marker all over his body was awesome. Event comments: So happy that I picked this race as my First! Great venue! Great volunteers! Very well organized! No complaints. Everything from easy registration to enough porta potties the course was laid out perfectly, voluteers were enthusiastic , spectators were awesome. Last updated: 2009-08-21 12:00 AM

Woke up early had my half a bagel with cream cheese and bowl of oatmeal. Washed it down with some coffee. Sipped Gatoraide until 30 minutes before the race. Met up with "Flatlanders" and hung out in their room steps from the event start.
Got my wetsuit on 30 minutes before the race start...jumped in for about 10 minutes to stretch out the arms.
