Swim
Comments: 38 out of 67 ( male and female) What would you do differently?: Try and swim in choppy water. First buoy was good front crawl but after that the waves got to me and I did a lot of side stroke and back stroke. Swam front crawl on return trip going with the waves. Transition 1
Comments: The water was so cold that my hands did not work. I couldn't close my fingers around my zipper to unzip the zipper. For a second I thought that I was going to have to get a volunteer to help. I put on a running jacket to warm up then threw to off. I should have grabbed a second shirt for the bike. What would you do differently?: Not much T1 felt good I was just frozen. Bike
Comments: Cold. I had to use my right hand to shift my left shifter. The left hand din't work until the first loop was done. I actually mashed up the hill in the big gear on my first go. I thought I had dropped the big gear but once I looked down I saw it was still the big cog. Had fun passing guys on tri bikes that whizzed by me on the flat section before the hill and passed them on the hill. What would you do differently?: Not much. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition grabbed the jacket that I had on during T1. What would you do differently?: Not much Run
Comments: Again with the cold. It felt like I was running with big pieces of wood between my feet and insoles. I actually thought about stopping during the first mile because the feeling was so strange. About a mile in it disappeared and I was able to pick up my pace. Run felt strong much better than the last race. Post race
Warm down: Changed out of try shorts and top and grabbed all the clothes that i had with me to warm up. What limited your ability to perform faster: Simply the temperature Event comments: The race was great. The post organization was a little off. First time running race in 5 years so I can understand the issues they had. Swim start was delayed by 10 minutes as there was abandon car on one of the trails. Police removed same. The organizer shorten up the swim due to the temperature, wind and waves. Only issues was that about half of us were standing around in the water for ten minutes waiting for the go ahead. Not really the organizers fault about the car but it would have been nice to know that they were moving it off the course then I might have gotten out of the water. Last updated: 2013-05-13 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:10 am. Ate oatmeal and protein shake. Half a coffee on drive to city. Some water. Ate half packet of Honey stingers chews about 30 minutes from start of swim.
I didn't do a warm up swim in my last race so I thought I would get in and warm up. Well the water was extremely cold.
