Maybe they will send out a cop and he can talk to them. I agree. This is the best course of action. Afterall, didn't you see that movie Babe? Pigs can speak dog pretty well. That cop will set those dogs straight... Bah ram you bah ram you your sheep your fleece your clan be true bah ram you. I think I've watched that movie about 50 times more than I should have. |

Veteran 869 Stevens Point, Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Barking dogs Well I did some research into our town ordinances, it looks like I have to get 3 people from different households to file a complaint before anything can be done. I know one neighbor would file one, I would feel a bit awkward asking others though. But it's driving me crazy so guess I'll just have to do it. Who knows, maybe everyone is just waiting for someone else to take care of the situation. |

^^yes, most likely. The neighbors behind my parents' house has 3 nuisance dogs. I was out on a run and ran into a woman, started chatting with her, turns out she lived on the other side of the nuisance dog house. The two of them got together and filed a complaint. I bet if you asked others if they had any concerns about noise in the neighborhood, you may just get them to offer this as a complaint. |

Even if another neighbor didn't find it annoying enough to complain, you plant the seed and it may get worse from them now that you brought it to their attention. Plus most people are not into confrontation, so if they know others are with them, may give them courage to speak out. |

In my town it is a misdemeanor to have your dogs barking incessantly. I would say your response depends on your neighbors. If they are reasonable and decent people perhaps you talking to them will fix the problem. But if they aren't I would go to the police first. That way you are anonymous. If you talk to them first, nothing happens then you call the cops, they are going to know who called the cops.
You are not anonymous if you call the cops unless you don't give the cops your name. Anyone can go to the police station and request the records on their home. If any calls are made against your home it will generate a report. I have a half dozen on my South Dakota house because the jackazz that lived behind me decided to call the cops on my dogs if they barked at all past 9:30pm...which wasn't very often but was apparently about a half dozen times over the course of a year. Anyway, my neighbor's name is on the report as the person reporting. And if you don't give your name/address I imagine the cops are going to take your request for action a lot less seriously. So, darned if you do and darned if you don't. |

Expert 790 Frisco | Subject: RE: Barking dogs isn't it cold this time of year where you are? I will never understand why someone buys a dog and then leaves them outside. horrible horrible horrible. But if you have only asked them once. It would not hurt to ask again. |

Oh, and they're fun with Rabbits too. I'm hoping you're not serious - but this is not cool. Airsoft or not, they do break skin and the BBs lodge under the skin. Obviously Tony was writing in jest. But even that aside... if I can take an airsoft bellet to the bare skin at point blank range and it not break the skin, there is no way it is going to penetrate a dog and "lodge under the skin". Eh....my kids have air soft "wars" all the time with other kids in the neighborhood....they all wear protective glasses, but I've probably seen a kid "shot" with an air soft BB hundreds of times...no, they will not break the skin. On the other hand, I've never heard any of the kids barking while shooting each other either, so maybe there is something to it as a fix. |

Just make sure you give the dogs some protective glasses before you take aim at it. Edited by tri808 2012-12-10 5:42 PM |
