Subject: When is a win not a win?

When you forget your timing chip. It's been so long since I've used a D-tag I left it on the bed.

OK, so my plan for this morning was to to do a bike time trial and maybe a 5k. They were both within 3 blocks of my house. I did the time trial, which went well for the first one of the year. Then I walked the bike over to the 5k registration, registered, and realized I had 10 minutes to get home, change, and get back.

In the frenzy I left the D-Tag on the bed. I figured it wasn't a big deal, I was running to support the charity more than expecting to have a good race after the TT. I ran really well, and afterwards when I checked times found my clock time was 6 seconds under the M 50-54 winning time.

Sigh, time for coffee and a shower. And honestly, I'm not that upset, I pretty happy now knowing what I can do, which is what's really important. And I did a TT and 5k this morning!

Oh MAN!  That stinks, but nice job either way.  You may not be on the books, but you won.  Nice work!

Best part is being done all that by 9:30am. Brunch with the kids and then the first day of fishing for 2012. Life is very, very good today.

Haha i dont need details. Just wondering what you were after/what area. I have a few spots close i like!

And nope, I was at the boathouse just after 6 until around noon. Came back and passed out for two hours and then a run (yes running again!)

Going to wait till the end of the next few warm days to bring water levels down a bit then fishing for me!

People who do epic days like that don't need no piddling prizes.

dossheepos - 2012-04-15 1:10 AM Unlike a woman I ran a 10k with today who borrowed a friend's race number. The friend was in an older AG, which this woman then placed in. When I say "place," I mean she was one of the top 20, which meant she could claim a prize. This being Beijing, claiming the prize was a mess and kept our small group at the finish almost an hour longer than we needed to be. The price was a cap. So she held us up for a nominal prize that she wasn't qualified to win to begin with. End rant.

Actually, the woman was very nice, and it was a fun morning. My first 10k event!

Claim a prize for someone else's bib and AG? I could never do that. I would have DQ'd myself. Really.

It was a lake near their house. Fishing was terrible, although I have to admit I caught the only two fish. Yeah, the whole day was kind of like that.

PM me, I'll fish, and I don't know any places around here on the PA side.

Was the TT an organized event, or your own course?  I've been looking for organized TTs in the Philly area, closest I've found so far is Lake Nockamixon.

Every Saturday at 7am from April through September, West River (MLK) Drive. It's short but flat and fun. I'll be helping to do timing next week, so say hi if you show up.
