Hi everybody. The forum told me to introduce myself, so here goes.

I've been a coxswain for various schools and clubs for the better part of the last 9 years (currently for Cornell University). After hanging around a bunch of rowers for that long I decided being in OK shape wasn't good enough, and so decided to take up triathlon in my spare time.

While my first goal is to finish a HIM (Eagleman or bust), my eventual goal is to qualify for Clearwater. I figure that when I'm not spending 20 hours a week watching other people work out I'll be more able to fit in some more focused training to work towards that goal.

More long term, I'd like to start a group of distance athletes (triathlon, marathons, adventure races, etc...) who, like me, suffer from Ulcerative Colitis or Chrons to raise awareness and hopefully some money. Sort of like the team that raced in the Tour of California this year who all had type 1 diabetes.

Glad to be here, sure I'll see you somewhere on the road. I'll be the short, skinny one in a rowing hat smoking the competition.

Welcome! glad you found your way here! As a former Collegiate rower (Lightweight at the time even!) I just want to remind you...DONT YELL AT THE OTHER ATHLETES! It could be a hard habit to break. Also, don't steer your bike like you steer your shell...  Ok I am done with that. Welcome and it sounds like you have great goals and a good focus, keep at it and look around here. the advice is great and you can even see Race reports for what others have said about the HIM you are doing in the past.
