Subject: Is it wrong?

{Keri puts on her flame retardant suit}

Is it wrong to use cleavage for a free bike fit?

Let me say this was not at all my intention.  I got ready to go for a ride tonight which with 5 kids and a husband out of town isn't the easiest endeavor.  Get all ducks in a row, eat a snack, put on all the garb including experimental lube.  I get to my bike and decide in my infinite wisdom my font tire needs air (may have just been my imagination).  I have yet to put air in my tires.  This bike is new, I've been on it less than a dozen times and my wonderful husband has filled my tires a few times.
Long story not so long I let all the air out of the tire and was unable to get it full again.
I decide to load up and hit the bike shop - maybe they can show me what I am doing wrong.
One of the guys offers to help me out, we start chatting, I explain I NEED a bike fit but can't swing it right now.  He fills my tube and then accidentally pops it and has to give me a new tube.  We are chatting, I'm giving him a hard time for popping my tube then I ask "if the bike guy pops your tube don't you get a free bike fit?"  just joking of course.  He asks if I have the rest of the bike, I tell him yes and he tells me to go get it.  It was then that I look down and notice that I was unintentionally using my feminine prowless.

He was SUPER nice but that's just because he was a nice guy, right?  I got my fit.  He was very cool and chatty but afterwards I started feeling guilty - sort of.  I mean, I really needed a bike fit Embarassed

As long as you, or any of the other women who might respond to this thread saying that it's ok, don't ever complain about a guy ogling you, in a situation that it's not to your benefit, sure, use your cleavage.

But, if one was to complain about it when it isn't to her advantage, and use it other times, that would make her a hypocrite.

Cleavage.  Experimental lubes.  Popped tubes.  Bike shop guys that will "swing" a fit for you.

I don't even know where to start ...

And I'm going to guess that in the next 10 threads (+/-3) someone will say "this is useless without pics" or something to that effect.

I know.  You are absolutely right.  I wasn't looking for this attention and he wasn't obvious or rude or anything.  My thinking has always been if you don't want men checking you out then maybe you should be more careful with your wardrobe.  For most of us women work out wear is function not fashion.  It's not like I was wearing something super low cut but the counter is low and I was somewhat bent over.  I've never been the type to blame guys for looking becuase.... well.... I look so how can I blame them?

I don't consider myself a feminist but I think that is where they guilt comes from.  Does that make sense?

Sounds reasonable to me.  I don't ogle (I think?  I hope?) but I look.

Seconded!

This started out to be a really good Hustler letter and then it went wrong at the end.

Seriously though, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.  If he's dumb enough to think that he was going to get something aside from a hearty thank you, then let him think it.

I'm suspicious. Did the guy really give you a free fit, like a for real fit, or did he just adjust the bike by eye? Did you get measured, ride the stationary bike for a few minutes, get measured some more and then get a printout of your ideal measurements and frame size etc?

Not sure what constitutes a "real" fit.  He put my bike on the dillywhoppy where you pedal but don't go anywhere.  He watched me pedal from all angles.  Took some measurements with a angle/protractor looking thingy.  Made some adjustments to the height of my seat and brought it forward.  He had me pedal some more in each position and measured me again.  Adjusted my seat two more times and then adjusted my aero bars.  The whole thing took about 45 minutes.  I didn't get a printout and I had already bought a bike and he knew I wasn't interested in buying another so he didn't try to sell me a different frame.  Considering I didn't buy the bike from this shop and he knew ahead of time I wouldn't be buying a new bike anytime in this decade I think he did a pretty thorough job.
