Master 1730 Atlanta, GA | Subject: RE: IM Kansas Spectators This situation is a complete disaster for me. I am flying in with the family and staying at friends in KC. My kids are too young to get up at 5 AM then spend the day at the park. So, friends and family will not be at the finish line. I just got my head handed to me by my wife (big time). Frankly, I would not have signed up for the event if I would have know these logistics. I get the efforts to make it work as a full day event and trust it will be a great day for most. However, it will simply not work for me. I dare day this may be my last tri for a long time. |

Alpharetta, Georgia | Subject: RE: IM Kansas Spectators Seeing that the roads will open back up at noon or 12:30 p.m., could your family make it up for the finish? That seems to be the best option for those who can't get there by 6:40 a.m. Hope it works out for everyone! I went on a long run and feel much better about all of this |

You should be OK unless you're that fast. |

90 | Subject: RE: IM Kansas Spectators ...just to follow up on this...but PLEASE wait for the Spectator's Guide to be posted. Clif notes version: Spectators will be allowed to enter the park all the way up til approximately 0900...but we still recommend spectators to arrive early. Spectators planning to arrive up til 0900 will need to enter from the SouthEast on 458 Road. Spectators will be allowed to exit the park anytime after 0915. Spectators will exit North on 458. It will be the only way open so it's a no-brainer. Spectators will not be allowed to return to the park til appoximately 1215. A shuttle service is being arranged to transport spectators to/from transition to the "iron-cross". During the hours of 0845-1145. All of this will be spelled out in the Guide...I am just following up on the false speculations. Be prepared for a run course change...for the better. It is the course we wanted in the first place...more shade, more spectator friendly, etc...it will all be within the park. Spectators will be able to follow the athletes...it will take the athletes through the campgrounds. The campgrounds are packed that time of year so it should add another cheering section. Thanks. Master 1730 Atlanta, GA | Subject: RE: IM Kansas Spectators Ryan - Thanks for the update. Can spectators park at the Iron cross section and ride a shuttle back to the race site? I understand the shuttle will end at 11:45 and they have to find away back to their cars on their own. |

I'm looking forward to riding through that section now on race day. I figure after they scrape me up off the bike course they'll take me to the end so I can see you finish! I like that the course is basically broken into four pieces. That makes it seem less long. I'll be thinking `Just make it to the cross' after the swim, then `just make it to the turnaround' then `just make it to the cross' then `just make it to the turnaround' and so on and so forth. |

I figure if I can ride the mountains of Colorado everyday for a week a year, I can accomplish this. It's that pesky run right afterwards! I do love to run though. Especially when it's flat. |

Lawrence has a great music scene...and combining that with the IM Expo it should make for a fun evening. The expo will be setup similar to the concert in the video. http://www2.ljworld.com/videos/2008/may/15/18548/ |
