Subject: RE: hunger after swimmingGenerally, the hunger is your body's way of dealing with the fact that your core temperature is a little low. Most pools are anywhere from 78-83 degrees (except the one I swim at, which is an ungodly 86 ) and so it slowly drops your body temp even though your are working hard and sweating. If there is a hot tub, 5-10 minutes will do wonders to warm you up and lessen the hunger. If there is no hot tub (again, my pool doesn't have one, maybe that's why the pool is so warm... ) a longish, hot shower will help too. Or drinking a hot beverage. But this is actually one of the reasons that researchers speculate that people that swim for exercise (as their main form of exercise ) don't tend to lose as much weight, because they eat more due to the hunger that swimming creates. |
