Pre-race routine:

Race @ 8:30, woke up at 6:45, ate a power bar and drank water for breakfast @ 7:30, got to race site @ 8
Event warmup:

1 minute run, stretch, porta potty!!!!
Run
  • 32m
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

Did well considering I've never actually run more than 20 minutes before. Was very proud of myself for running the whole thing. Didn't stop at all!!!
What would you do differently?:

I got a little depressed when I thought I saw the finish line and it turned out to be about 1/4 mile to early. Next time I will trust that I can make it and not panic about the end being farther away than I'd like.
Post race
Warm down:

apple @ water, long walk to the car

What limited your ability to perform faster:

not having ever run this distance

Event comments:

The skies opened up right before the start of the race so they just let us all get started (walkers too) about 4 minutes early so not everyone was lined up.
