Subject: foot pain - middle-outside of foot
I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for in posting this - a miracle cure maybe? - but maybe someone will have something helpful to say.

This happened this fall as well, but I've been fine since then. Yesterday I went for a long run, for me, of almost 8 miles. I felt good aside from a bit of soreness in my legs today and achiness in my hips and knee. This was nothing that I really even thought about by this afternoon when I started today's run.

My plan was to do an easy 5 miles. About a mile into the run, I started feeling the pain in my foot and it slowly intensified until I had to stop running when I hobbled my way back home. It is kind of a dull pain in the middle of my right foot that feels like it spreads outward to the first boney no on the outside of my foot from the heel.

So, any thoughts? I'm really hoping this isn't something that will keep me from running or necessitate a trip to a doctor.

Thanks for the information. That is nice to hear. It isn't sore to the touch, it just seems to hurt while running (now that I've been sitting for half an hour or so after I hobbled home). I guess I'll take it easy for now.

After getting up a little bit ago, it hurts to walk around too, not just when I run.

It sounds like I'm dealing with something similar to what you have. Rest is probably the way to go. If this continues after I start running though, I suppose I should have it looked at. Thanks again for your feedback.

Wha?

an enlarged nerve or a thickening of tissue surrounding a nerve that typically occurs in between the 3rd and 4th digits of the foot.

I have a similar pain that started just yesterday. I could take time off, but I'm just finally running again after getting my hip figured out.
Has anyone tried taping it to keep it stabilized?
