Hello Everyone. Been a while since my last post. I am back in Egypt and have taken some time off from the seimming and biking since by 1/2 ironman in August. Still running in preparation for the Egyptian Marathon in Feb.

Just competed in a cool race yesterday. Called the 100 KM pharonic race. Went from Heuwara pyramid in Fayoum oasis to the Sakkara pyramid (Step Pyramid of Djoser) covering a distance of 100 km and passing by about 12 pyramids. The race could be done solo or as a 5 person relay team. I competed in the team event with 5 colleagues.

Had a great time. My leg was run through some pretty remote areas a villages. Lots of people in the fields farming with donkeys and cows rather than tractors, seeding and plowing by hand. Through the towns kids coming out to run with you, men riding along side on their donkeys. No running water in the homes and people out washing clothes and dishes in the canal that runs through town.

It was really a great experience...the run went good also, 20.5 in 1 hour 34 minutes. Felt strong at the end and really thought I could go a long way. Makes me think I'm on track for the marathon in Feb!

Hope everyone is having a good winter,
Cheers

Sounds like a great race, good job!

Now you just have to go back next year and run solo....

I am guessing carrying your own water is a must when doing this kind of race.
Congrats on a good time and participating in what sounds like a really cool event.
How did your team do overall?
