Subject: I think I got hosed by race officials last weekend Let me start off by saying that everyone makes mistakes and I understand, but I am bummed that people don't correct them.
I did the Pasadena Triathlon last weekend and it was my third ever triathlon. It was a reverse sprint, and it was a really fun course.
However, here is my problem. After the swim, which was last, all competitors walked out of the pool and a race official was shouting out race numbers to which another race official punched them in a computer for your swim split and final time.
I came out of the pool and didn't hear or didn't pay close enough attention and the race official shouted out race number 140, too bad my number was 146.
When the prelim results came out at the post race event I didn't see myself on the result page.
I found out about the mix-up and emailed the race director because number 140 was a competitor that's who's combined times were greater then my overall time. The race director emailed me back saying that they would take care of it. However, the official results were posted and I am 542/552 people.
My actual time I would have been 11th overall and 3rd in my age group.
What should I do? Should I continue to email and raise hell or just move on? It was a USAT sanctioned race and I am bummed that I don't have the result for the effort I obviously put in, I mean I even have a picture of my leaving the pool with the 10th place finisher in front of me and the 12th place finisher behind me!
I am feeling like this is a learning expierence and that I will do my best to not let happen again, and hopefully I will have more chances to podium as my career continues.
Anyone have similar expierences? What did you do?
run time 20mins 38secs
bike time 28mins 02secs
swim time ???????
