Yesterday I had a really fun ride. My first 25 miler of the new "season". But what was really interesting was my equipment.

Leading up to Christmas I bought myself a HED disc and a LG time trial helmet. Now, of course, this stuff is strictly for racing, but I just couldn't look at it any longer without using it. So I slapped the disc on and popped the LG on my noggin and took off! Man it felt cool! There's something about that sound the disc makes. It must have been louder than I thought because as I approached people from behind they would look back long before I got there. Anyway it was fun but kind of pointless.

Call it product/Equip testing and research!

"Am I a Dorkus for doing this?"
Only if you were doing one foot pedaling drills at the same time.

"Anyway it was fun but kind of pointless."
Is there any other kind?

If you really want to be a dorkus then take that disc and helmet and do 25 miles on the trainer in your living room...I bet it makes you faster

On the same topic, I just got my new wetsuit and I'm not sure I can wait till spring to try it out...might have to suit up and hit the rec center pool in full neoprene!

That's awesome! How fun that sounds (no pun intended).

Way to go and give into temptation! Besides, you gotta test equipment before you race to make sure it works...right?

Yes. You are a major dorkus. You should pack up that wheel and send it to me immediately because obviously you can't be trusted with it....:-) That's awesome, and I'd have done the same thing. Where I live people think I'm a dorkus because I ride a bike (when I have a perfectly fine car).

TH3 - the Wetsuit in the pool?  I could actually see that.  That's some commentary on my sensibilities...Dorkus would be taking it in the hot tub...or bath tub.

Where I live people think I'm a dorkus 'cause I keep getting my bike in the way of their trucks...

And don't give up your HED to any of these yahoos that claim they need it 'confiscated' immediately.  That's mateial boorishness, certainly not appropriate.  Instead, let's all come to our senses and recognize this as the season of charity, of giving, of selflessness. As we all are agreed on that, I'd assume the only right thing to do would be to share your joy, spread your wealth, and package up a similar set of goodies for the folks kind enough to give of themselves (in kind) by posting in this thread.  Let me know if you were thinking the same thing.

The 'hedge the dorkus' bet:  make your wife try it on her mountain bike.  Or kid on their banana seat stingray.

The 'I'll take the over that I'm a dorkus' bet:  trying to fit it to the club's Lemond Revmaster spin bike...
