Subject: End of IM training week 10
I have to apologize for this late post, but I have been sick at home with 2 sick kids for the last 2 days.

These weeks are really starting to blend together and they are flying by so fast now.

This week I had 2 swims totalling 4800 yards and 1 hour 45 min. Lately I have been lacking motivation to get wet and my swim times have shown it. So this week I took a step back, worked on some drills and just relaxed, my swims were shorter than normal, but I feel like it really helped.
I had one bike ride scheduled (1 hour on the trainer)and one optional ride on Christmas (didn't do it).
This week was a run focus week for me so I had 5 runs scheduled and a long run of 14 miles. I flaked on Friday and didn't run so I got in 4 runs for 28.3 miles and 5 hrs 15 min. During my run on Sunday I started to fade after about 9 miles and figured it was because I hadn't run that distance in a while, but as I found out later I got my wife's cold and that just kicked my butt.

This week is a brick week for me and it's not off to a good start. I already missed Monday and Tuesday's workouts but I should get in my bike workout tonight. If the weather holds out for me, I will run on Thursday, swim on Friday then I have a 60 mile bike 8 mile run brick on Saturday and an 8 mile run on Sunday.
The weather is crappy out now and I have to weigh the benefits of training, versus the negatives of being out in that weather, especially just after a cold.
As always keep the positive thoughts coming and I promise I will get back to everybody...I have been lagging on my "Inspire Me" training partners
Thanks
Tom

Keep your spirits up Tom.  You're doing great despite the slight hiccups.  Falling sick could be your body telling you to ease it alittle.  Perhaps you want to do your runs at the gym if the weather doesnt look too good?

I know I know....its boring as hell on the threadmill.  But it beats getting drenched in rain and the softer impact of the threadmill might do you some good as well.

Lots of time till your IM.

Looking forward to this week's workouts.

I knew you were going to tell me that

If I were the only one in my family that was sick, then I would definitely think it was my training, but actually I was sick a lot shorter and less severe than the rest of the family

No, seriously I will take it easy. better now than in 4 months, right?

Hahaha...definately better now than 4 months later

I have absolute confidence that you'll complete IMAZ in good fashion.

I hope I'll be somewhere near you're state of preparation in 2 months!

We're pulling for you Madcow! Sometimes it is better to step back and re-group before plowing forward. If that is what you've got to do, then so be it. Keep up the posts, they are very interesing and I can't wait to read the final post in the end.
