Oh this is way too easy, Rush, of course. Popular and critical opinion has been blocking their admission to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for years.

You either like Rush - or you simply have good taste

Fixed that for you.

Yeah in High School (long time ago) I kind of kept quiet about my affection for Rush. That was before I started hanging out with intelligent and cool people.

Also another Toad the Wet Sprocket fan here.

It honestly seems like I've spent my whole adult life loving bands nobody else gives a fig about!

I can literally hear the shrieking the first time I put the Stooges' 1969 on the car stereo during a road trip with a bunch of buddies - "Turn off that $hite!!!".

Got a few that fall into this category:

New York Dolls
Velvet Underground
X (Previously mentioned on the other thread)
Sonic Youth
The Pixies
Joy Division

At least with my friends, they always thought my taste in music was more than a bit flawed.

I would have added the Surf Punks but at least a few of my friends liked them

Tim, I'm with Bear on this one. That is a great list of bands. Nothing to be ashamed of there. Now these I might be a little ashamed of:

  • World Party
  • Jamiroquai
  • Macy Gray

First, great call on ELO. One of my favorite all-time bands.

Next, Rick Springfield is playing here tonight. Anyone want to go with me? Every year, he still sells out 5 consecutive nights at the best venue in Milwaukee.

Now, I'd like to throw in a few more:

Styx

Human League

  • 38 Special

  • Fountains of Wayne (who most now dismiss as a "One Hit Wonder")

    Spandau Ballet

    Crash Test Dummies

    Ned's Atomic Dustbin

    Rollins Band

    Danzig
