Austin 70.3 ( Longhorns)

KEJ - 2008-05-12 5:56 AM The bike course has changed a bit, and is actually a bit easier than last year. The run, most likely, will remain the same. Parking will ALL be at the Expo Center in the AM, to make it easy to get in/out. Last year, there was quite a backup to get in. We'll have a ton of shuttle buses to and from all day for athletes and spectators. The area that was used for parking now will be a Team Tailgating area. All teams/clubs can have their tents set up, have a bbq, beer, fun, etc. Go to the website, and have your club sign up. You'll be given 1 parking pass for your team vehicle, to bring in tent, supplies, etc... Lots of good stuff coming. We'll also have a children's play area, and a spectator tent, just in case its hot again

Sounds like it will be awesome, I am pumped for this race.

Thanks for the info regarding the course, you're a class act. Longhorn will be my first HIM and I'mm going because I've only heard great things about all your races.

PS: To clean the lint out of the dryer tray, let it accumulate a few loads-it's easy to clean if it's thicker.

There had been quite a bit of talk on the Texas board a few weeks ago regarding changing the run course; did you decide not to do that after all?  

Sorry, I wasn't there last year.  Does that mean two or three loops if your leaving it as is?

KEJ - 2008-05-24 9:38 AM At first, I was all set to do the 3 loops, judging by the response. Now, it seems, it's split pretty evenly. So, I'm guessing we'll leave it as is. We've got a ton of great ideas to make it fun outside the park. Look for the Longhorn Energy Lab out by the expo

I did the race last year. TriSport did not support then- but may this year?

I would recommend going to Fedex (UPS charges twice as much).  We were able to ship bikes to Jack and Adams (LBS) for about $90/bike from Chicago.  J&A had a great deal to receive, assemble, tune-up, then repack and ship back. Cross your fingers they do it again--THEY WERE AWESOME and a lifesaver after I finished my first HIM.  

Note not to expect your bike back for about 2 weeks post race; pre-race, J&A needed to receive it the Wed prior to race, which had me shipping it down there the previous THursday (from Chicago).

With airlines now charging $15 for the first checked bag, I wonder what their rates are going to for a bike check!  Note--I was SOOOOO happy not to have to lug the bike box & bike (about 75 pounds) through the airport, hotel, etc. So worth missing my baby for a few weeks! 

 I miss this race already--maybe 2010 race schedule? (2009 is IMOO!!!)
