So, who else is commuting tomorrow? I've got ~40mi round trip, and I've been wanting to do this 2-3 times/week anyway. Tomorrow's as good a time as any to start! Bye, bye Golden Gate Bridge toll and gas waste...

I have a job that requires me to be on call for our region. Never know where I will have to be and what kind of supplies I will have to carry. I biked in on tuesday for a meeting. I can only ride in when I am not on call. So really once every 2 weeks I can ride in (I am not in the office that much). 17.9 miles one way.

I'm not, but that's only because I'm not working right now.  But I will be biking to the B2W Energizer Station not too far from my house, where I'll be volunteering tomorrow morning!

When I worked in SF, I always wished I could bike in.  But I live a bit too far up north to consider biking the whole way.  But I did take Golden Gate Transit, which saved me a bundle on gas, bridge fare, and parking fees.  Plus, I could read, sleep, watch DVDs, etc. while someone else dealt with the traffic nonsense.

Have a good ride tomorrow!  I just got an email notice saying tomorrow is a Spare the Air day as well.  So, you'll be doing a good thing X2!

I've thought about it, but it's only a 5km ride (one way) and thus doesn't really justify the means.  I'd have to have a shower at work (have to dress formerly) and I'd not really get much from the workout etc...  If it were a longer commute, then I'd be fine with it all.

Enjoy the ride, Jim! I'd love to bike to work, but I don't trust leaving my bike at BART or locked up on the street outside my work, and there's no place in the office to store it. Plus, it's only a mile to BART and two blocks to the office, so there's not much point to biking it.

It's a shame they aren't doing the free BART rides on the Spare the Air days (or maybe it's just that this day came too early in the season?).

60 miles each way.  Sounds like a nice ride.  Maybe next year.

Myself & a couple riding buddies at work have been doing it all week, and will probably continue from here on, weather permitting.

My bike commute takes about 2-3 minutes more than my car commute.

If (1) I had a shower at work and (2) the last 6 miles weren't through deadly automobile territory, I would

I wanted to commute today, but I was running late. I try to commute at least 2 days a week.

Normally I bike commute on Monday-Wednesday-Friday, but I'm changing up and biking tomorrow and running Friday just because of the occasion.

The only problem is that I bike to the subway, then ride that into downtown and I suspect there'll be more bikes than usual tomorrow...meaning tight squeeze on the train. So I think I'm going to mark the occasion by riding over the top of Griffith Park and all the way to work...about a 20 mile ride with about an 830' climb, I think. (I usually do the full ride to downtown--no subway--once a week, but usually take slightly longer but less hilly routes.)

I started bike commutting about 3 weeks ago. I am trying to ride or run at least 3 days a week.  The actuall trip is only about 5 miles but obviously it's easy to tack on extra mileage.

The only drawback is that I even look at my bike and I break into a sweat so I have to shower when I get to work.  Luckily we have a shower at work. So I bring clothes in for the week on Monday and I'll drop stuff off at the Dry cleaners on Friday. It's gonna take some work, planning and a back pack but I think I can make it work.
