I can pick up a pair of these for $100 in very good condition. Only ridden twice, because they guy (who I know very well) picked up a pair of Zipp wheels.

Good deal?

I'm upgrading my bike in the next six months, and thought this might be a good investment...but, I've read both good and bad things about the wheels online....so, any thoughts?

Thanks!

There are numerous reports that these wheels are subject to catastrophic structural failure, but I am sure that you have already seen that from the on-line research you mentioned.

Might want to make sure life and health insurance were paid in full prior to plunking down the Benjamin for the set.

Very good price. I'd go for it and just make sure to wear a helmet all the time Tongue out

It was supposedly "fixed" after a re-design a few years ago. If it's one of the 1st gen models, I'd steer clear. If it's one of the more recent iterations, though, you're probably fine.

Either way, I'd ask at least a few questions about a set of aero wheels going for $100. Caveat emptor and such.

Thanks. Good life and health insurance. They're so cheap because I know the guy, and he is not techy at all - so they won't be going on ebay, etc. I don't, however, know if they're a first generation or not. I'll find out. Thanks.
