Subject: Open Water Swims
I live in Dover, NH. I did my first triathlon last year. I am signed up for a few this year. My first race is on June 21st. I would really like to get some open water swims in before the triathlon. Does any know any good places in the area?

Are you doing Eastman?

I enjoy swimming at Newfound (Bristol) and Clough State Park (Weare, NH).  I'm sure there are places closer to you, however.

No. I am actually doing one in Maine . . . the BLT (Belgrade Lakes Triathlon). It is the first year for the race. Thanks for the advise. I may check those places out.

I wonder how cold the bay is right now? If you don't mind brackish water, go to Wagon Hill Farm and head down the path to the launch/beach. Watch for rocks, you can step between them but could turn an ankle easily. Never been swimming there, we used to take the horses all the time, but I would guess it is, at the very least, warmer than the ocean. It is really shallow, which is why I thought it might be good. Oh, and Pawtuckaway should be swimmable by now, and should have guards on duty. Just go now before the e coli levels start spiking.

Anyone from farther up north? I've heard to try Lake Katherine outside Wentworth/Warren because it is really shallow.
