Subject: FW Indoor Pools?
I work for Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth and work out at their exercise center. It's only $17 a month, so I love it. The problem is that they don't have an indoor pool. They have an outdoor one, but they charge an additional $10/week just to use it. So, I'd like to try to find an indoor pool in FW to use. Anyone know of a place that will give you a membership or let you use the pool. I'd prefer not to change gyms, but I will if necessary.

Where abouts in Ft Worth?  $40 per month is comparable to what a YMCA membership is, or local gyms.  Our local gym in Keller is pretty close to that for the whole gym.

The downtown YMCA and many of the 24 Hour Fitness clubs have indoor pools. I believe the Benbrook YMCA has one also. Keller has a natatorium.

They're all going to cost you - but if you live in Keller, it's affordably priced for residents.

I live in west fort worth by 30 and 820. It's just really annoying that my facility doesn't have an indoor pool and charges the extra fee just to use the outdoor one.

Don't disagree with that. 24Hour is building a new club in Lake Worth - so if you hold tight you might get one there in a year. Until then - I guess that the Benbrook Y is your closest bet. I use the 24Hour at Western Center and I-35, which is a pretty fast drive from your area (I used to work right there).

24 hour is nice, but they are always so packed. If I got a memebership there I would want to do everything there. Also, it would have to be a decent deal (which seems hard to get with them).

See if Lockheed has a deal with 24? We got ours through my wife's employer (an airline) and it's cheaper than normal.

I do end up doing a ton of workouts there at the gym. In fact, there are only a few of us at my 24HR location that truly cross-train hard (to the point of exhaustion). It gets noticed and the others in the gym tend to give you space on equipment because they realize you're working hard. I've found it to be more friendly than other gyms I've been at - where people won't share with you although you're covered head to toe in sweat and they're just barely messing around on something and reading a magazine/book while doing it.

The pool at my 24 is almost always empty. That is worth a lot to me. I can hit it when I need it.

If you don't want to go that route; we'll be in pretty hot weather for the next 4 months - maybe just get your swims done OWS style at Benbrook Lake or Eagle Mountain Lake.

Or you could do your swims in Benbrook lake. They actually have a swim area marked off for laps. You do have to pay $1 to get into the park or get an annual pass for I think $30. It is very close to the Benbrook Y. My husband and I both swim (when I actually get in the pool!) at either the downtown Y or Benbrook y.
