Subject: Place to OWS near/in Peoria
Anybody have advice on what lakes are safe, with/without beaches, in Peoria? I'm going to be travelling there in a week or so and might wanna try to find a spot to swim at! Thanks for any advice!

I'm in Springfield IL and I don't really have an answer for you but there is a Peoria tri club website at www.tri-peoria.org.  They have a Contact Us area where you could probably send them an email with your question.

About the only place I know where to lap swim it the Riverplex in peoria.  If you find a lake let me know!! Pekin YWCA does offer lap swims but the hours suck, and they keep the pool at like 87degrees.

I don't know any OWS areas in Peoria, but the tri club in Bloomington (about 30mins) has a weekly (Weds 5-7) OWS at Miller Park.  They put out buoys and have life guards in a canoe for a $2 donation.  They average 20-40 swimmers/week.  It's about 600 yards/lap.
