OK - just catching up on the sign ups over the weekend... we currently have 77 riders signed up for the challenge...

And team requests for the following 9 teams: Barloworld, Garmin-Chipotle, Eukaltel-Euskadi, Credit Agricole, Silence-Lotto, Team Columbia (formerly Highroad), Agritubel, Quickstep and CSC-SaxoBank.

Initially teams will be set up with approx 9 riders per team based on the current tour teams. The smaller teams also makes it easier to inspire your team mates and keep up with what is happening in the team thread.

I will announce the teams Thurs/Fri (AM USA time) so there are still a few more days to sign up if you want to join in

If by some fluke we get around 90+ riders involved I may add other pro teams to our line up. If your team preference is not listed in the 9 teams named above feel free to make a request but please state a second preference just in case!

Thanks

Cat

Ha! Bet you don't pick "Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni-Androni Giocattoli" because who can say it without stuttering!

Seriously thinking of getting one of these team replica bikes. Pity they haven't been invited. Gilberto would have done well. Would have been my second choice team but you know where my heart lies.

I'd like to be be part of either Crédit Agricole, Quickstep or CSC-SaxoBank.

Thanks!

Well, the good news is I'll be starting a new job shortly.  The bad news is, with the sale of our house in WI, moving from my apartment in TX and getting the family to GA is going to be keeping me very busy over the next 3 weeks.  That plus the new job and new company will just about occupy all my 'free' time.

That being said, Cat, I regretfully request to drop my name from the challenge if it's not too late.  It would not be fair to my team for me to sign up for the challenge and then not fulfill my stated goals, there by hurting their chances of winning.  If all else fales, I'll be in the support car behind my team supplying water and carrying extra gear!

Thanks, hope it doesn't cause you any extra trouble.

Congratulations on the job! I know what a trying time it has been for you! Best of luck with the new job and the move.

Maybe we will see you next year!

And its no bother... life comes first!

yay kat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! credit agricole for me please! allez les vertes emmentales i'll captain up again if you want. goal for end of july is 700 miles so will let you know what is needed during le tour itself.

go you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol - how could I forget Les vertes emmentales? That was nutty... for any one who isnt sure what this is .... Les vertes emmentales is 'The green swiss cheeses' basically.... (emmentales is the name for the French version of Swiss cheese)

That was a great team. I liked having the green cheese avatars that month.

Not tempted to go back? I know youve asked to be on a different team this time around... but just thought I would check!

Definitely tempted.

I've never done a BT challenge and really not sure how this works.  But this sounds like fun and would motivate me to be diligent with my rehab (I suffered hypothermia and crashed on my bike at the Worlds in early Jun).  If my Dr. confirms tomorrow I don't need surgery and I'm allowed to ride on my Computrainer in Jul, I'm in for 10 stages and 450min.   Cat, can I confirm with you tomorrow, would that be too late?

cat, is it too late to bail out? i'm sorry, i was SSSOOOOO looking forward to this challenge, but i STILL have no new bike, and it's sort of sucked all the motivation out of it for me.
hopefully there's still a new bike on the horizon for me, but alas, it won't be soon enough for the fun july TDF challenge.
good luck all.

Hi Patricia,

Cat's probably sleeping right now. (She's not lazy - she's just half a world away. )

The Challenge won't begin until July 5th (when the TdF begins), so it's definitely not too late for you to sign up (and confirming tomorrow should be just fine).

Hope you don't need surgery, and are allowed to start riding again!

Hi Cat,

I'm gonna have some pretty small volume this month.  I'll be focusing on swim speed (Olympic tris) and more run volum (marathon training).

7 stages (350 minutes/100 miles)

I'm assuming it's still open for sign up????  If so, put me down for 9 stages.  Do I need to quantify miles/time or is that cool?  I have a race this month and haven't really looked at training beyond that, but I do know I like to ride.

I am in for 210 miles in six stages. Any team is fine. If roni_runnw happens to recover from her wrist sprain soon enough to participate, I'd be happy to be on her team.

I hope the news from the docs is all good!
