Subject: Need your opinion on bikes
I'm looking at buying a new bike. This is my 1st time buying one and I don't know much about bikesSo I need your unbiased opinion.I'm looking at two bikes Trek 1000 or the KHS Fleet 300. The prices are the same, there only $50.00difference in the priceHere are the specs on both bikesFram: KHS- Compact 7005 Alloy Trek- Alpha AluminumForks: KHS- Full CrMo fork Trek- Bontrager CarbonComponents: KHS- Shimano Sora 8S Trek -Shimano Sora, rear derailleur TiagraCrankset: KHS- Truvativ Touro Triple Trek- Bontrager Sport 52/42/30By looking at the specs on the bike I don't know which one is better over all. Both places I went to they said there bike was better than the other, who do I belive?Your help would be great.Thanks

I'd prefer the Trek because of the carbon fibre fork and the Tiagra rear derailleur. Even if the Trek is the more expensive these enhancements are worth more than the $50 price differential.

That, and the Metallic Orange/Pearl White is a pretty cool color scheme:

If you know what size you need and have already been fitted by the LBS, there are 10 Trek 1000s on eBay, but most are big- 54s, 56, 58 & 62s.

The two are pretty much the same. It simply boils down to which bicycle you prefer. Try them both out and decide for yourself. As for the carbon fork, they are over-rated anyways. I

FYI - there's a KHS 300 at pricepoint.com for $400 and it has a carbon fork with all Sora components. It may be a newer/older model than what you're looking at, but the price may be better than the LBS. I have a 2004 KHS Flite 700 and have been very happy with it.

How about a felt? Feltusa.com Beautiful bike, sets up well with shorty aerobars and in a road position.
