hi. i started triathlon training a little over year ago, maybe more. i was recovering form surgery and saw an ironman on t.v. oln. i thought, yeah, i would like to do that. so not long after i started training, slowly at first but my enthusiasm got the better of me. some have mentioned to be careful with over enthusiasm and they are right. i banged on too hard too fast. making great progress quickly, but not long after i crumbled. i felt miserable. so i had to slow down, take time off. i went ahead and did my first tri and later in the season did two more. the second one was better. i felt better and stronger. i was overtrained no doubt for the first one. but i love it and am trying to be a little smarter this year, hopefully i can fully recover. this looks like a good site, lots of information and friendly chat and advice. till next time.

You are right on all counts ---  this is a good site, lots of info, friendly people, and you need to force yourself to slooooow down. This is hard for all of us!!

Welcome to the board -- you'll love it.

Welcome to the team.  Glad to have you here.  Sometimes it's harder to tell yourself to slow down than to tell yourself to push it.  Good call.

Sigh. it's so damn nice to hear that other people do the same things I do and that I'm not alone....thanks for sharing your history with too fast too soon...cuz I'm guilty of it as well. I'll look to your experience and use that as a reminder to slow it down a bit and not push so damn hard.

Best to you on your goals!!!

Welcome to the site. Isn't OLN great. I miss it. After moving, I would have to pay another 40 bucks a month to get the package that has OLN. I don't want the rest of the channels, just OLN. The bike racing is so cool.

i just wanted to thank everyone for the nice welcome. i had posted on some other threads, but i didn't think of responding to this one. i'm new at this forum thing as well! haha. one of you said, i think it was eightman, that this tri bug has him posting on random forums. indeed. but what a pleasant addiction it is. right? thanks everyone, i hope you didn't think i was rude by not responding.
