Time to step up and introduce my self. This is Michael. Just started getting ready for my first Tri in June.
I've thought about doing one for a while but never committed to one. The Tri is part of the 2004 Kansas City Corporate Challenge to benefit the Arthritis Foundation. This was the push I needed to get started. I ran cross-country in high school and mountain bike as much as possible. The swimming is where I lack. I don’t know why but the though of just doing a marathon is not appealing. But adding 112 miles on a bike and 2 mile swim, now that sounds Interesting. The race in June is a Sprint and I hope to continue with this sport in the future. I also looking forward to all of the great support and information I’ve seen on this web site. Later

Welcome Michael, I love this site and you will find many caring and commited people here to suppport your goals. The sprint is a great way to get started, put together a good training plan for the full distance events and try not to over do it too early. Sometimes the hardest thing to control for semi-athletic types is to push too hard too soon. I constantly need to show restraint, especially in building the solid endurance base for the longer events. Congrats on making the commit to get strated. Good Luck!

Welcome -- nice to have you with us. Someone usually knows an answer to questions -- or at least where to point us for the answer. So ask away -- and good luck in your training and your race.

Great to have you with us - You are a triathlete The running alone doesn't get it and the other sports are absolutely "interesting" - when you put the three sports together - now that's a real challenge!
