Subject: Spare Storage

How do some of you store your spare tubes and such and still maintain aerodynamics?

Hi Adam, welcome to BT!

Saddlebag--you can buy them at bike stores (some sports stores). They strap on under your saddle and to the seatpost, and the smaller ones are completely shielded by the saddle (even the medium ones would be shielded by your butt, unless it's the tiniest in the world). So no aerodynamic problem.

Have fun riding!

My problem is that I can't find one with a strap long enough to go around an aero seat post.

Ever think of poking a hole in the strap and running some string or something through it so it will go around the post?

Seriously? Wow. Is there a local bike store you can ask for advice or just get a long velcro strap to put on it (a lot of models have a lengthwise loop down the back that the seat strap goes through). I guess depending on your saddle position, you might not be able to just use the rails strap, although mine will stay on fine under the seat with just that strap if I tighten it enough.

I've seen some people use an old water bottle.  You need to shove some foam or something in there with the tubes, cartridges, levers, etc. to stop it all from rattling around.  Only problem is it takes up one of your water bottle cages.

I use a saddle bag, but I actually still have an old rear moounted cage carrier (I think Profile made it in the late 1980's) that had a small box to hold a multi tool, patch kit and spare.  But when I started to use a camelback, I had less need for the bottles in back, so I stopped using it.
