Subject: RE: Anyone done Ft. Desoto Tri? I did the Publix Ft. DeSoto race the past two years. Two years ago it was so fun, they had breakfast for athletes and families, then cooked hamburgers and hotdogs afterwards, and Sat. night had a big party at Columbia restaurant with free food and drinks and lots of prizes.
Last year there was no breakfast, no grilling (maybe they had some sandwiches but I don't think so ), and we had to stand around in the hot waiting for awards and prizes that day, no party.
As for the actual triathlon, I've done 3 there, and it's easy and fast and fun, but HOT HOT HOT. Also, if you don't like to run on concrete, skip this one, it is all sidewalk for the run.
The park itself is just beautiful.
I'm not planning to do the race again this year, tho', just too hot that time of year, and no shade to speak of anywhere, even for spectators. |
