Subject: Sweat smells like ammonia
After working out I have noticed my sweat has a strong ammonia smell. I drink at least a gallon of water everyday, not counting my water intake during my workouts, so I do not believe I am dehydrated. Any of you ever have this problem?

yes my sweat smells like ammonia too. sometimes quite strong. Not sure why, never really thought about it. I figured it is natural. Unless i am mistaken sweat and urine are the two ways that your body eliminates nitrogenous(ammonia being transformed to urea. NH3 to (NH2)2CO) wastes. but then again it has been a while since organic chemistry and i didnt pay attention that closely...

yes i also smell it after a really hard workout. now im only 17 so i have not been to any science classes that have discussed this. so i have no proof that what i do works other than what i can tell you.

what i do when i smell it is i will eat an apple and the smell is gone in minutes. dont know why. but it works for me and it might for you.

Amen for BT forums... Another mystery solved that I never thought to ask. Happens to me all the time, great to know how to prevent going forward. Smell never bothered me, but my laundry pile said otherwise...
