Veteran 247 CA | Subject: RE: Cervelo Website for 2009 Models Now Active. Not much change up at all, but like WaterDog said, if ain't broke... I have one qualm though - I really don't like the color schemes for the P2SL/P1. I know it's just an entry level TT/tri bike, but the paint scheme is just seems so dull and tame compared to the rest of the line up, and to me screams "LOOK, I AM AN ENTRY LEVEL CERVELO". That's probably what they're aiming for but...eh. |

As I kept my eye on Cervelo throughout the year, I did notice the subtle changes they made to the build kits. Folks that purchased early in 2008 will see a bigger difference between the 08 and 09 models. (Build Kit Wise) |

I mentioned the fork to my LBS, but they said that the recall was for the forks on the P2SL. True? I'm assuming if it just shipped from Canada on Tuesday, I should have nothing to worry about... |

The word I got from my LBS was that all bike shipped from Cervelo will have the T3 Fork. (It appears they have completely dropped Wolf) My LBS does not keep Cervelos around long but the few they had last week all had the recent upgrades: 1). I think I may print this out and have it in my pocket to check against what I get... I just remembered, even the models they have on the floor had the T3 fork. I'm just an unusual size, so they had to special order it for me - si I hope to get the good stuff! Edited by Aikidoman 2008-09-04 5:52 PM |

Champion 6627 Rochester Hills, Michigan | Subject: RE: Cervelo Website for 2009 Models Now Active. Nothing at all exciting there. Especially nothing to pay 15% more, as the pundits have shared the avg. price increase will be. The paint scheme of the S3 is hot, however. But I'd trade it for a Klein paint job today, tomorrow, and forever. When will bike mfg's figure out that a really good, or unique paint job, will really sell? Take Orange County Choppers, for instance. A little bling, a little paint, boom. 3x the price, or more. Kleins sold well, famous for their paint (and aluminum). C'mon, boys, expand your business model. If you put Cervelo together with a painter who would custom paint your frame for 300 bucks, they'd sell a gajillion. You can only deal with so many silver, black, red, and white bikes with logos slapped all over them. For $5K, you should be able to call your shot. And not everyone has the patience to buy a bike, strip it, send the frame off, get it painted, and bring it back. If ironman and tri is becoming a show-pony event, you have to bend. Listen to the market, gang. And lemme pose this question...if the gains are negligible year-to-year on bike technology (which can be , and is argued), why not buy used? Tons of folks get in, buy their gear, then never use it. Leverage the LBS for frame identification, fit, and components if what's on it doesn't meet your need. And a beautiful corollary is in consumer reports this month...the savings of a used car over a new are in the 20% range over the life of the car, sometimes more depending on car category. I'm sure the same holds true for bikes. |

Yeah, the good news is that Cervelo does offer several frames (Including the P3C) Nude and they have several approved custom paint shops to "Cloth" it for you |

Extreme Veteran 763 | Subject: RE: Cervelo Website for 2009 Models Now Active. I tried to get an S1 last week, but they will not be available until October some time. LBS said the standard Ultegra kit has been upgraded to Ultegra SL and will list at $2150.00. I like the anodized coating as well, but the shop I spoke with did not think they were going to offer it for 09. chevy57 |

S2 and S3 Ahhh...thanks! Actually, upon further reading...it looks like the Soloist Carbon is replaced with the S2, and the Soloist Team looks to be the S1. The S3 is way above both of them...new model perhaps? |
