I'm just getting started in working out again after two babies and I have TONS to loose. I'm brand spankin' new to this tri thing and am thrilled about my goal of doing my first sprint in the spring. One of my sub goals is to loose 50 lbs, so joining in on this challenge would be nothing but beneficial. I'm in!

Kelly

Hi Kelly,

I also started with the hopes of losing 50 lbs and dong a tri.  I've currnetly lost 15 lbs and have competed 2 tris.  Lots of us are new here, but many others are very seasoned and full of helpful information.  Keep your training logs up to date, and we'll be here to motivate you and cheer you on!!!

Ditto...on the 50 lbs to lose and doing a tri...So far I have lost 15 as well and have done 1 tri...and I will do my first 5k in a few weeks (my first tri was a super sprint with a 2 mile run not a 5K)...You can certainly do it and the people on this site are great for giving encouragement and teaching you a lot about the sport! Good luck!

Iron_Gus - 2008-09-16 3:32 PM I'm in! So we start Monday right? I will be on vacation for one week starting Monday so I wont be able (I'm guessing) to post my starting weight then. I will post it on Friday instead. My goal will be a 2lb weight-loss each week for the duration (I have a loooong way to go to reach my goal weight).

Well, I am posting my starting weight today as I will be away on vacation next week. The holiday will be a challenge for me as I have just recently developed a routine of exercise that I have been enjoying. I will have to mix it up a bit and try and fit it in around the family.

Statring weight (for Monday) I am posting is 290lbs. I am at 291lbs at present but expect that this will continue to melt away. My target weight-loss is 2lb per week for the duration, giving me a Christmas target weight of 264lbs.

Wishing everyone the best of luck!

One stone is 14 pounds...    It's a measure of weight used in the British Isles.

The last challenge I was in was fairly informal--just set a goal and head toward it: give it your best shot and use the weekly weigh-ins to keep yourself accountable.  So, in my case, I'd like to break the 200 mark by New Year's.  That beings said, if I'm a pound or two off on New Year's day, I'll take where I'm at and be very happy about it.

That's going to be my strategy on this challenge, too.  There may be a bad day here or there, but the weekly weigh-ins and the camaraderie of the rest of the group help minimize those slip-ups.

Hope everyone has a good weekend... and get ready to post your starting weight on Monday!  Good luck, all!

Hi. My name is Sue and this is my first BT challenge. Not here so much for weight loss as for maintenance, though if I lost my last stubborn 5 pounds, I'd be very happy. Starting weight this AM is 126 pounds. Goal is 121. Good luck to all, thanks for issuing the challenge...great idea!!

The lowest weight in the last 20 yrs. But I can not complain as I am down from a high of 269lbs just 3-4 yrs ago. Good luck everyone!

Somehow I've managed to gain weight from last week...so I'm starting at a higher number than I'd like, but that just means more to lose, right?

Today's weight: 149.4

Goal weight: 139

My Christmas present to myself is to get below 140.

That's very doable, just stick with us and hang in there--you'll get there.   By the way, AWESOME user name. The Ender & Bean novels are two of my favorite series of books.  My son's nickname was Bean (even before he was born). (Ok, I'm now officially outed as a science-fiction nerd... )

Hi. This is my first challenge.  Heck, this is my first post at BT.

I've went from complete inactivity (I was also a smoker) one year ago to the point where I (slowly) did my first sprint tri 3 weeks ago.  My goal has been to get healthier and lose weight.  I've been successful on the first but I still am about the same weight I was when I started, probably because my drastic change in activity level led to increased eating.  The good news is that I haven't GAINED any weight in the last year, which I had been doing steadily previously.  Though the weight has shifted and I'm getting more muscular, I'm still not losing so I hope that this helps me.

Right now I'm at around 240 (I don't own a scale... I guess that's something I should get).  I think I need to lose about 70 lbs to be at a healthy weight for a 6'1" female, but I should only lose 2 lbs a week right?  So that's losing 26 lbs, right?  So my X-mas goal is 214.

Hi, new here as well.  My starting weight is 170, ultimate goal weight around 125 (I'm 5-1).  I'm a penguin runner and triathlete - will be focussing on the running over the winter, with swimming and biking as crosstraining - I have running races planned about once a month until tri season starts in May.  I'd love to be 150 by Christmas.  Nice to meet you all!

@ tri jean - Penguin = slow  I've been running for a few years, on and off, but I still run about a 13 mm.  Biking more has actually helped with leg turnover quite a lot.
