Someone asked me about the Vote for Crawford Area Shelter

I wasn't going to post it and no, it doesn't have to do with triathlons but here is the deal (since I was asked).  A woman moved to Ferryville 9-10 years ago and found a stray dog on her property.  She called the sheriff's department to find out there was no animal shelter in the county.  The sheriff's dept said "if you don't want the dog on your property you can shoot it."  Horrified, she started Crawford Area Shelter for Animals.  They are still the only shelter in Crawford County and surrounding counties so you can imagine the amount of animals that go through the shelter (they are actually a network of foster homes_.  They are non-profit, no kill, and operate on a very limited budget.  The vote is sponsored by Adopt a Pet, where we have some of our animals posted, and Care2.  If we get the most votes there is a $10,000 prize which at year end will come in REALLY handy for the shelter.  All animals adopted from CASA are spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, and receive all of their shots.  So, if you are an animal person, or if you just think you would like to help out, vote for Crawford Area Shelter for Animals and pass the message on.

Thanks to those of you who already voted for us.  We really appreciate it.  Jasper does too as he was the first CASA dog I fostered (until I fell in love with him and he stayed).
