just reg-ed - was going to same day it but a note on jstri club suggesting that reg was close to closing scared me into pre-reg-ing.  Son Rob and I will be facing off here - he has developed some faster legs recently on the hs xc team so I want to see how our 5k times compare.  I am hoping that i can maintain a strong fast 5k pace which is my primary goal for the race.

Close to maxing out?? I was gonna do race day also. There was supposed to be a 3-4 ft. swell coming in but that changed and the water should be pretty calm. Hmmm...decisions, decisions! Bob - A great way to spend time with your son! Good luck to both of you~ it'll definitely be flat and if it's not too windy, fast too.

website says accepting same day - i got a response from director saying as much as well.  another message he had sent out was posted on a board suggesting that it was filling up and I registered early - saved a couple dollars by doing so and now i'm committed - glad - because probably would have been disappointed on sunday had i not gone - see you there?

Yep - I got nervous and registered on line. Wound up saving about $4 w/ Active's fees and such. At least it'll definitely get me there! We're staying at my inlaw's beach house right in Seaside Heights so I'll actually get to sleep in the morning of a race! Can't wait! Surf should be a non issue - its' supposed to be stone flat. See you manana

It looks like there's a few of us racing tomorrow - I'll be riding a red and silver cervelo soloist and running in a yellow shirt - probably be wearing a jacket for the ride. It looks like it'll be a bit nippy. Good luck everyone!

it was all good - except I got "sunned" - son rob beat me by 1.5 minutes - frustrated with my run - was hoping to be able to kick it but found myself low on energy.

what i would change would be to move the turn buoys out an extra 50 yards - the swim line intersected with a sand bar which meant we were getting knocked by breakers.  not complaining - it's part of the challenge.  swim would have been a bit more relaxing though if we could have gotten beyond the breakers.  ( I guess you could chose to swim out further if you wanted to and then swim in further but most would likely not make that choice.)  I did see at least 2 people calling for help after getting blindsided in the breakers.

I had a blast yesterday, Only did the DU but still had a ton of fun. O was wearing a JSTC jersey and a Cervelo P2C-ult if anyone saw me out there.

I could have done w/o the wind on the return leg of the bike, and I lost or someone took my wallet in the TZ.

Next year Im goign to do the Tri, but I'm very happy with my placing. 19OA,2AG,1Clyd. It wasn't my best race but my best placing.

Now I need to go to the DMV- I'd rather do anything else!!

I had a blast! They definitely need to tighten up transition - sorry about your wallet! That stinks. Great weather, great race, great food afterwards, great charity. Great way to finish the season. I'll be back next year fer sure.

Thanks for the vid link.  I did the du, it was my first event.  I had a good time, thought it was run very well.  Very laid back and fun.  I will definitely be returning next year.
