Subject: training plan timing???
This past year I did several sprint tris/duathlons/running races, but next year I'd like to do Olympic distance tris as well. I was looking at the plans on this site and they range from 12-26 weeks. I really like the 12week plans, but I'm a little confused. If my first Olympic tri will be in June, that means that I'll start the training plan in March.

I've currently been training for my first 1/2 mary (which I did on Sunday..yay!), so I've been exercising pretty regularly. But, what do I do from now until March??? What do most of you do? Do you just exercise regularly w/out a plan, or is there something you follow?? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

well to answer you quickly..... i would say:

Get a good focus on all the things you need to train while training. Speedwork in all 3, some strength training, some endurance training. Remember to focus on nutrition. I would sugget just keeping on it untill january, then decide then if you are better off to follow a plan, or your instinct.....

Always train hard, and go harder then you think you have to. Always do that extra interval, or KM. When i train i set goals daily, or every couple of days..... i have a hard time keeping confidence on a real plan, or anything like that....but you have your own opinion. Do what you feel will work for you. Focus on what you have to get done in the race itself, and go from there.

Have you looked at the winter maintenance plans here on BT? I am doing the 20 week general maintenance followed bu the 6 week bike focused maintenance to lead into the 20 week HIM plan.

just do some base training, easy speed to build up some endurance. Try work on your weaknesses aswell. Like if ur weakness is swimming, swim more than you bike/run etc
