Hello, I have just starting getting into this, well, the training. I'm looking to do a short distance here in the summer, and a Olympic distance in the fall if this works out. After that it's off to the University of Washington and Seattle, which looks like there are lots of people from around there posting already.

hi Joe, what brings you to Okinawa?  Let me guess....courtesy of Uncle Sam?  Last summer I met Matt, a tri guy from the US who is currently stationed at Kadena.  Send a PM to Adder720 and maybe you guys are close enough for some training.  Good luck to you!

Welcome and best of luck. I can say this about the website. I haven’t come across anyone that I would not like to do a run, swim or a bike with. Everyone here is so helpful and friendly. It almost feels like one big family here to support you.

Greetings from Kohci, on Shikoku island. I`ve been looking around recently for some races around here and other parts of Japan. Any advice on where to find this info? Good luck with the tris and your move.

Here is a link to a site that lists a lot of the races, but mostly for Okinawa, not sure about the rest of the islands:

Thanks for the note

Being in Korea, I'm in the same boat. The events are out there, it's just a little more difficult to find them. Of course there's IM Japan, there's XTERRA Saipan, and the 'Randonneurs Japon' host a big slate of endurance cycling events (points events for Paris-Brest-Paris). You'd also have IM Korea which is held on Jeju-Do, a quick trip from Fukuoka..............

Thanks for the heads up. I`m actually looking for some shorter (olympic) races as I`m returning to triathlon after a couple year hiatus. Thanks again.
