Subject: Floor Pump question
I'm looking to buy a floor pump, but have no idea what to look for. My Felt has Presta valves, but I would also like to use it on my mountain bike (standard valves) and other things like basketball's, inflatables, etc. I was hoping to find one on performancebike.com, but it looks like the range from $15 to $100. (http://www.performancebike.com/shop/sub_cat.cfm?subcategory_id=4360) I would like a decent one that will tell me the current pressure and is easy to use, but don't need the best there is. If anyone could provide any reccomendations, that would be great. They have one for sale that looks pretty nice (Ascent® Mega Force Floor Pump) , but just wanted to get some opinions. Thanks,

Derek

Also, I forgot to add that I don't need to attach it to my frame. I use CO2 cartridges during training and races.

We just got a Joe Blow floor pump that has a smarthead. I have only used it on the Presta valves so far, but it is supposed to work with Schrader valves also. This model was the one recommended by a cycling coach I spoke with. Look for the Pro or Turbo model, should have one of them at Performance.

I'm using this pump since a couple of years and I really love it :

Very accurate, easy to plug/unplug and cheap !

Good luck,

Christian.

http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=16031&subcategory_ID=4360 I got this one a while ago. It works great and the sale makes it downright cheap! Not sure about compatibility with Schrader valves...

I have the same one.  Yes, it has the dual head that had openings for presta as well as schraeder valves.  Works great, and for $20 it's a hell of a deal.

I have a Blackburn Trak pump Pro.  It pumps easilu and quickly so I don't have to do handstands to get the PSI up to 120.  My LBS uses this pump.  It sells for about $75 Canadian but well worth it.  Everyone borrows it at bike group and races because it is a good pump.

Christian, the Beto pump looks like a pretty good one.  I am thinking of picking one up myself as the price is reasonable but is Mountain Coop still a member's only store or am I confusing it with some other outfit?

Machiavelo,

Yes MEC is for members only. But membership is really cheap and its worth it. They have great stuff and reasonable prices. You can go to the Ottawa store on Richmond(?) or buy through the web.
