I am new to Tri-Training but I am liking it so far. I am looking at doing the WPS half marathon in the spring. Mydog is my personal trainer right now but looking for a group to run with on the week-end.

I will probably try and do that race in the spring as well.

Our try group (TriFactor) has been running every Sunday. If you are looking for a tri group to join, we're a small group but have a good time. Ran for 1 hour at Assiniboine park this morning.

Many in the group (myself included) will be running the Hypo Half in February (brrrr).

that sounds interesting. I am not a great runner right now but I am trying. I have never run with a group before so I am not sure (some apprehension, yes).

What distances do you do and about how many people usually run?

On Sunday, we had 7 people. We ended up splitting up into 2 groups. Our group ran about 8:30/mi avg and the group later finished a few minutes after us, so probably 9:15 - 9:30 ish/mi.

Note that I say per mile, as I am originally from the U.S. and haven't made the conversion to metric yet.

Nice run down Wellington Crescent from the park and turned around at 30 min. We made it back about 4 min. faster than the outbound trip, so nice negative split for the day.

My GPS is in miles so I do understand. With my dog I am running between 9.12 and 9.30 for 4 miles. I think I am at that point where it is time to do longer runs. My goal is to do my first 1/2 marathon during the WPS 1/2. I am pretty sure that this is an attainable goal. I have run 14 miles in the past and survived (got lost in Vancouver but the weather was so nice I didn't care! LOL). So I know that if I can do it once I can do it again and consistantly.

Not sure what area of town you are in but there is always a large group of runners running from the Running Room at kenaston and Grant on Sunday mornings (I believe 8:30 a.m.) Here you will meet runners of varying abilities and speeds and are sure to meet people with whom you can run.

Yes - plenty of opportunities to run with various groups in Winnipeg. I like the comment on getting lost in Vancouver - this has happened to me in the past on the bike which resulted in much longer times vs. what I planned.

I'm not sure where we are running this coming Sunday, but I'm sure it'll be somewher around town.

I have run with Running Room on Sunday as well and they have a good group run also.
