It was not mandatory last year...I don't know for this year....but...You can take your bike late in the afternoon and you won't have problem with your tires....LOL....I have never had that kind of problem when I take my bike the day before a Race....

What i've done in previous races is just let some air out of your tires, then fill them up the morning of the race.

That's what i was thinking of doing, thanks for the advice.

I'll actually be coming down with the TriGators, so not sure if we will do the pasta dinner or grab something elsewhere.

Just watch out for glass in the parking lot and transition area.  Last year, the first year, the site wasn't cleaned well.  It's an abandonded ampitheater that was popular for water ski competitions and for concerts - they'd float the bands out on a barge.  It hasn't been used for much other than this race for the five years I've been driving on KB.

The swim is phenomenal!  Flat water in a protected cove.

Also, watch for glass in the bike lane.  I flatted on the Victoria spur.  It's a fine line between avoiding debris and riding outside the bike lane.

And, the run is only partially paved.  It gets very trail like early into the run.

I was just wondering whether the bike course was 2 loops or just one single huge lap???

It's 2 loops....

I believe that last year there were 540 Olympic racers and 200 sprint racers.  The number has doubled for 2009.  That could be the rationale for why mandatory bike registration this year. 

Does anyone know how many heats there are/will be? 

have you tried www.wetsuitrental.com? 

 I used them once, very fast and easy...doesn't matter where you live either

I believe they just take your measurements and automatically match your body to a wetsuit. I dont think you get to pick brand.

yeah i know, the setup is kinda strange, 39 and under are always first. Im going in the 8th wave, which is not so bad since i dont wanna swim in the dark like earlier waves.

im with you bud and im waiting for my xterra vengence to arrive in the mail....... ALSO: If anyone is going to be in Miami the day before lemme know, i wanna try to get a swim in in that lake the day before. wife and i are coming down from delray to stay overnight from saturday to sunday

I'm gonna be picking up my race packet sometime saturday, i wonder if the key will be closed since on saturdays there are tons of boats and jetskis on virginia key. BTW virginia key is not a lake, its actual ocean water. I've swam here before since its one of my favorites spots to hang out, its actually really nice and calm. I'll make sure to let you know if im swimming on saturday.
