bike fit in kansas

I hear that Randy at the Bicycle Pedaler (316-685-4545, 330 N. Rock Rd.) here in Wichita is oustanding and is usually booked out weeks in advance during the spring and summer.  I am actually going in for my fit on Monday, so I can let you know what I think.  Cycling is new for me but by brother used to be a Cat 2 and my father also cycled a lot back in the day.  They always bought from Bicycle Pedaler and were very happy.  My experience so far has been the same.   

 If I remember correctly, I think they charge $150 if you are not buying or did not buy from them.  The phone number is 685-4545 if you would like to call and verify. 

I too used Randy at the Bicycle Pedaler in Wichita.  He is very knowlegable and I feel like he steered me in the right direction while being perfectly honest with me.  They did charge something like $50 for the fitting but it was all put toward the bike if I bought from them (which I did...I ordered the 2009 Cervelo S1 and had them do a few adjustments and upgrades).

I live out west too, but the trip to Rock Rd. is well worth it.  I LOVE Bicycle Pedaler!

Another thumbs up for Jeff at Elite. Had my fitting on Wednesday and was impressed. Only have put an hour on the trainer since then, but can already tell a big difference. Wish I would have gone in before my HIM, but I guess I'll appreciate the bike fit all the more at the next race.

Hardest part of the whole process was ignoring the '09 Felts and Argon 18's lining the walls....

I'll 4th Jeff at Elite.  However, I wasn't successful at ignoring the wall full of Felts.

Was it black, silver, white or red? 

To the question above, don't want to be doing price quotes on Jeff's behalf, but it was $150 for a basic fit for me, YMMV.  

Jeff's been busy, Ryan our spin instructure had a fitting with him last week too.

I went silver + Zipps, the yellow was awfully tempting but then there wouldn't have been much left in the budget for wheels.  Which one are you looking at?

I am a "regular patient" of Jeff's. I could not ignore Argon18 so I ended up with E112 Dura Ace, Zipp 404F/808R and some cockpit mods. I like the results.

As it turns out, I now know Mike too. We passed each other and talked a little on Sunday during ride. Nice Felt there Mike, I like that. I always thought that Felt tri bikes offered the most bang for the buck with only P2C being able to stand up to it in that regard.

As with Jeff, nice selection of tri bikes, lines that nobody else in town carries(Jamis, Argon18, Felt, Parlee) and expert fitting that in my limited experience no one else has here, unless I am missing something. I always drool when I am there, even after getting my bike. Every time I am there, I walk out with something. I almost got "grounded" for that.

Question: How'd it work with adding on the Zipps? Did you keep the stock wheels for training or were you able to swap out the wheels?

Now that we've completely highjacked the thread...I kept the stock wheels for training, the Zipps are 808 tubulars, all carbon.  They were 2008 demo wheels on closeout, otherwise I probably would have gone with Flashpoints or Heds and rode them pretty much all the time.  There's a stretch of road I frequently hit with a bunch of potholes at the bottom of a hill, bunny hopping the Felt wheels doesn't scare me but the Zipps don't have as much tire so could be quite expensive.  Anyway, I got SwissStop brake pads good for carbon and aluminum and an extra cassette (wait on the cassette until you see if you want more or less gear than stock), I generally pull the wheels and transport the bike in my trunk so swapping wheels is no extra work.  The only PITA is the Zipp rim is wider than the Felt rim so I gotta tweek the brakes or leave them a bit loose on the Felts.

I started out wanting a single set of wheels for racing and training but the lack of weight in the tubulars is amazing, can't wait to race them on a hilly course.

I saw your cranck and aerobars. Very nice choice. You must be very serious about your rididng based on your equipment choice. I would love to see your ride when it's done. I saw one Parlee TT bike at 70.3 New Orleans and it looked very cool.
