Pre-race routine:

mild stretching, meet up w/ nicole, arrange my decorative clear plastic garbage bag for head and arms holes!! :) Oh..almost forgot!! weather SUCKED!!!! raining out at the start of the race, roads ice and slush covered from snow the day before....rain turned to wet snow 1/2 way thru the race. Puddles and slush EVERYWHERE!!!
Event warmup:

LOL....event warm up sure has a new meaning when dealing w/ that crappy weather. HMMM...could think of a pretty nice event warm up...but thats another story ALL together, so will leave it.

Comments:

Due to the weather there werent too many runners. This is a small race anyway and the weather scared folks off too.
The first 10k was on track for a under 2 hr pace but then the snow came so we had to slow down.
Oh..did I mention that I ran this w/ my good friend nicole?? well, I did. Carried each other thru the carpy weather. Side by side, stride by stride, just like a team of 2 horses.
She wanted me to go ahead for the last 3 miles as she was feeling tired...but know way I was gonna leave her. Especially after the way she stuck by me during the cape cod marathon.
So we stuck it out. At the last 1/2 mile I turned to her and said 'what have you got left?" She said '...not much but lets see" and BAM..we took off in a sprint!! Real fun!!

hmm...best parts....jumping and catching snowflakes on my tongue around mile 6! :) Getting into warm clothes after the race. AND...knocking back 2 pints o' guiness at the post race pahty!! Chatting and just enjoying the day. LOL...I must have looked likre a goof though as I was wearing a goofy looking but warm long Nike coat! What a sorry asssite!! :) Gotta get some nice female help in buying some 'cool' sports wardrobe when all this other carp is done.
What would you do differently?:

jeez..what do they mean by this?? Just for this race or for life in general??

well...either way..NOT A THING!!!!
Post race
Warm down:

Get into some dry clothes, so I guess that is warm up and not warm down.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

weather conditions. VERY slippery footing and cold puddles everywhere. Not enough snow for 'grip', just slippery in general

Event comments:

Stress free day. Glad i did the run. Just a fun run, not a race. Nice warm hugs at the end. And a very very nice phone message of a hug waiting for me when I got to my place. :)
