Subject: Shamrock Marathon Question

I have the map of the race.

1. Are there any friendly folks handing out stuff to the runners outside of the aid stations?

2. In which areas will there be no spectators?

i haven't participated in this race before.. but i have watched and cheered friends.. first year of participation..

1. i haven't seen anyone handing out stuff.. no saying it doesn't happen..

2. yes there are places where there will be no spectators.. i don't quite a few races at the ocean front.. there is always blanks spaces along the run.. the bulk of the crowd is hanging out at(near) the finishline.

I don't know about the full...but I've done the half and yes, there were some friendly folks handing out stuff, but not a ton (may differ for the full) and yes, there are lots of lonely areas (and probably even more on the full). The spectators seem to line the first couple and last couple miles and the rest is pretty quiet.

Agree with what everyone else said.  There are usually people near the turn into and inside Fort Story.

The hashers are usually between mile 10 and 11 for the half - before the turn onto Atlantic.  Not sure what that translates to for the marathon or if you want beer.

We stayed at the Cavallier last year, think we're doing the same.  It's right near the start.

Also she said we might have an extra reservation at a courtyard by marriott that we might be able to give you if you want it.

Let me check, it might be a suite because we were going to stay there if we brought the kids, but I think we are leaving them at home now so we probably won't use it.

Will get the particulars tomorrow.
