Subject: Want to try a Tri Suit this year....
Last year before my first sprint tri ever, I went out and bought a nice QR wetsuit, thinking....yay, buoyancy....ahhhh, warmth in that COLD water....only to find out when I went for my first practice open water swim that because I get sooo overheated when I work out (red in the face, sweat like a pig...it's very attractive) I can tolerate some fairly cold water temps with just my swimsuit, and can NOT tolerate being encased in rubber. So glad I had a couple hundred extra bucks laying around for a wetsuit I'll probably never wear. What I ended up doing on race day was just swim in my suit and throw on my bike shorts at T1, worked fine.
However, my goal is to shave some time this year in my transitions, so I am thinking of getting a QR one piece tri suit to wear for the whole race. Before I shell out the $80, I was wondering if anybody else has worn one of these (or another brand) for race day? My only concern is that it will be really wet when I hop on the bike, not sure if this would be an issue at all (thinking chafe, maybe?). At least I had my dry bike shorts to pull over my swimsuit last year, so they were not quite as wet as the tri suit would be. I appreciate any input anyone has.

You'll be fine if you remember 2 things....no undies under the trisuit and use some bodyglide on your tush.  I love my trisuit and wouldn't trade it for anything!

The trisuits dry out very quickly so you won't really notice the wet shorts.  I have several different ones that I wear.  Zoot, Tyr, and Sugoi make very nice ones.  All you need under is a good sports bra.  I prefer the suits that zip up the front.  That way if I get hot I can lower the zipper, and if necessary pull it down to my waist.  If you do that, make sure you don't wear a white sports bra, or make sure you pull it back up before crossing the finish line.  Otherwise your finish line photo may end out looking like this:

Can I ask what brand you wear? And if there's any you have tried that you did not like?
I'm looking at a QR, but am open to all good reviews.
Thanks, Tania

Still and all, the first thing that jumps out at me when I see that picture is......she did it! Good for her!
Thanks for the input, it is much appreciated. Tania

Tania, word to the wise: I just heard yesterday that this place called Sea to Sea in Cedar Rapids (it's down toward the airport, get the address online) has QR trisuits on sale for something crazy like $35. But if you buy the last one you're in deep doodoo.

Well HOLY CATS! That is totally where I was going to buy my suit from (when I decided on which kind) and had already talked to them on the phone about brands and whatnot....well, OK, fair warning then, I am going down there on my lunch hour tomorrow - if you can't beat me down there I'll just put on my hip waders and chance the deep doo doo.
Thanks for the heads up.
