Thankyou thankyou thankyou all here!
I made it through my first tri, and I am pretty proud of myself as well...can you tell??
The swim was good, I felt pretty strong even though my goggles leaked a few times. When I started catching up to the other colored caps I felt really good. The hard part was when we came out of the water we had to run 300meters along the beach to get to the transition area...ughh...got on my new bike (bear!) and road considerably well. The halfway point included the 'hill from hell', it was tough, but coming down it was sweet! Got back safely, and went into the run..... HOLLY COW< my legs were dead! It took ages for them to inflate again especially because the first mile was hilly, I have done quite a few bricks in my training, but obviously I need to do more! Anyway, I finished 7th in my age group of 20, and 49th out of 119 women. Total time was 1.23.29. I have lots of work to do to improve, but for now I am really happy. I must also say that my run felt like I was going at about a 10m/m pace, but I did 8.29 m/m pace so those brick workouts are a must!
thanks again to all of you for all the help in getting me through my first race...cheers...and here`s to more!
Does this mean I am officially a triathlete now?

Dee, that is AWESOME! And you made the top-10 in your AG!  YOU ROCK!

Yes, you're a triathlete now.  The info I got from my first one: you ARE allowed to wear your race shirt for the next week, being careful to wash it when needed.  If you got a finisher's medal, you are allowed to wear it for the next week as well.  When you're telling people about your accomplishment, that glassy-eyed stare does NOT mean that you have bored them, but that they are completely envious!

GREAT JOB!

you guys rock! thanks for all the pat on the backs, couldn`t have done it without you BT`s!
I have a sprint tri on May 21st, so I will get back into the swing of things in the next couple of days. I aim to do many more brick workouts, bike more and also add extra speed workouts into my run. I now have a PB to beat so I have to keep on my toes!
thanks again,
tizzy..."a fellow triathlete"

Tizzy, that's awesome!! Your story, and the tales of all other first-timers, has me totally stoked to get to my first event.......still 3.5 months away -- but it'll be here before I know it!
Thanks for sharing your conquest!!
