Hey everyone,

I need runners for 2 teams - 1 is a "fast" team (10 minute milers and under) and the other team is anything slower than that (walkers are fine too). Please go here for more information and let me know if you are interested. (FYI - we do not plan on being in the running for the "purse" lol)

The TX TOUGH ULTRA Relay & 5K Fun Run is scheduled for Sunday morning, March 29th beginning at 8AM. Participants who are running the first leg for their relay team and ALL 5K Fun Run participants will start inside the Coliseum (adjacent to the Cotton Bowl) before making their way thru Fair Park and finishing inside the Cotton Bowl. ALL of the paton exchanges between teams in the Ultra Relay and the finish will be on the field, inside the Cotton Bowl.

TX TOUGH ULTRA-Relay – The Ultra Relay is a 50K (31-mile) mixed distance event. The relay legs are divided into 3-10K’s and 4-5K’s. Teams run each leg in alternating fashion beginning with a 5K. Relay teams may include a minimum of (4) members or a maximum of (7) members, allowing participants to run or walk more than one leg of the relay or include a team member for each leg. Team can be ALL male, all female or mixed (include both male and female). A $25,000 cash purse available and will be awarded among the TOP 20 finishing teams.

$25,000 PURSE QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES: Each of the Top 20 fastest teams will be awarded a percentage of the $25,000 purse with the 1st Place team receiving $5,000 (Equivalent to 20% of the total purse). For a Top 20 finishing team to be awarded their share of the purse they must meet a minimum fund-raising pledge of $2,100 per team. This is equivalent to the minimum $300 pledge per participant on a (7) member relay team. If a Top 20 finishing team does not meet the $2,100 pledge by November 15, 2009, the money to be awarded to that team will be forfeited.

If I can do 18 miles of the relay, I would be down. Not sure if I can raise money by then though.

OH! And I do a walk/run combo with usually works out to be around a 11 minute mile.

Yes! Actually, you have until Nov. 15 to raise the $300. I can PM you the name and phone number of the gal in charge of the teams if you are still interested.

We need more runners for both teams!

Yes, you do need to be part of Texas Tough, which involves raising $300 by November. But you could also participate in the swim and bike portions of Texas Tough as well. You could run a 5k portion of the relay.

TX Tough isn't a team per se, this is just a relay race. Think of it like a tri version of the MS150 if that makes sense.
