katherinel - 2009-03-22 10:59 PM Ok, take a big breath.  put the banana hammock back into the bag and go back to the sports store and get some jammers.   Don't worry honey, lots of us make bad fashion choices at certain times of the month.

Clearly you didn't look at the pictures. There is nothing bad about the choice of a speedo when your body looks like that.

...pwned.

I think this thread makes it clear which people respond without reading the whole thread... Please wear the speedo! In fact, come wear it at my pool! And for whoever said not to race in it... I seem to remember a guy named SneakySpeed that posted some pics of him ROCKIN' the speedo in a race. I would love to see more guys like that at my races!

As for Seminole Coastie... we'll need proof that you are really SeminoleTriathlete's bro... pics in a speedo should be sufficient for a comparison.

From a ladies perspective - if you are training they are fine. Go for it - whatever gets you to train but PLEASE don't wear them to the beach.

Speedo worthy......IMHO.......  aquagirl

Although I heartily concur, aquagirl, I think that a few photos of you in a speedo should have accompanied that statement to satisfy the non believers in this forum ...

Ok so from what I can gather..

It's ok to wear a speedo if;

1. You're fit
2. You shave your legs
3. not a old guy wearing a flesh colored one
4. Can swim a little bit fast

Oh, but here's another rule - don't do your entire triathlon in a purple/yellow/green striped speedo, even if you ARE fit. It looks ridiculous to be in a speedo and sneakers (There was a guy at a race I did last July who wore this...)

Now to give me personal opinion on what's hottest: I LOVE drag suits. I think they are the boxer brief of swim suits-- shows your figure nicely, but leaves a little something to the imagination. A fit guy in a drag suit is heaven.

EXACTLY!  Hottie in a drag suit....OMG I'll swim 7000 yds.  Drag suits trump all.

MissKelly - 2009-03-20 8:55 PM A few of the guys that swim regularly at the pool with me wear them. They are all different ages, body types, etc. I don't really worry about it. I have my own workout and attire to concern myself with.

Just don't be the guy who races in them.  That guy asked me for my number at a race once, and got a full account of my fictional boyfriend.

I'm liking the looks of the drag suit. I need to keep an eye out for that at my pool.

I'm just not a fan of the drag suit.  More of a square leg girl myself.

That would make for a good thread.  "The do's and dont's of approaching ladies at a race." Somebody should start it.

Based on some of the responses on this thread as of tomorrow I'll be ditching the jammers and square leg suits and swimming with the drag suit everyday; I hope I can pull it off!

speedo is a BRAND, so is Nike and TYR.

Jammer or Brief.

Jammer is becoming the more popular thing to wear, when I swim I wear either a jammer or mens tight (what they use in the olympics).

We know. But it's kinda like Xerox or Kleenex. The brand and the item have become one and the same.

tru dat word.

My dad did tris in the 80s and wore his speedo ALL THE TIME!  (Single, good looking guy, right??).... I have so many memories, and so many hours in therapy recovering from this.    He also wore a shirt that said "Here's the beef" when he was being casual.  The 80s were so painful.  But if you are fast and a good swimmer, wear what you want.  Just don't walk around any teenage daughters and their friends!!

Sounds like if you can't pull it off, you'll have plenty of others who will.

As SeminoleTriathlete's older brother, I have to say I'm proud of how far he's come from not wanting to take his shirt off at the beach, to rocking this sweet marble sack bathing suit.  Nice work, bro, you've come a long way.

I'd like to offer, however, a word of wisdom from your older, wiser, much more talented brother:

You might want to consider taking those pics down or else you might end up with Customs agents showing up at your door trying to arrest you for smuggling grapes into the country.  Please be careful, we want you around for the holidays.

Beer Pressha!  He's rattled!

what do we have family for if not to call us out?!  I am still laughing about this^^^^

first of all, i agree with the general theme that you definitely can pull of the speedo.  However, i totally agree with your older and wiser brother that the pictures should come down......rapidly.  if not in the context of this thread, they are well, creepy.  again, you look fine, but there is something about the dimmly lit speedo self portrait that is a little strange.

LOL.  Alright that cracked me up.  But, since somebody posted pictures of that other dude with a ridiculous tan, I had to give myself some kind of an edge and make use of the dim lighting, since I clearly am not sporting a killer tan.  Well said though.

And in response to what my brother said, I somehow don't recal not taking my shirt off at the beach.  That sounds kinda bogus to me.  In fact we have many pictures of me at the beach with my shirt off as a kid.  But hey, selective memory I guess.

Just go with one of these.  You'll find it's a great way to break the ice with other swimmers down at the gym pool.
